Last I heard this one was getting a Blu ray release, any news about that?

So who else has seen this OAV?

Anime Works re-licensed Jungle de Ikou and Eiken which they previously released on DVD so they can put those series on Blu-ray sometime this year along with Jubei-chan 2. But hard to know when it will be.

I still own the DVDs for all of those series I mentioned.

Well it’s more about fanservice and people who buy it are buying it for that. You have a 10 year old girl who does a dance that turns her into a goddess spirit with huge breasts. So yeah not supposed to be great just fun.

I thought it was funny and a little messed up. I can't wait to get it on Blu Ray along with any/every other 80's/90's anime that I own that needs an upgrade.

I was going through the upcoming discs, and it looks like TRSI is showing it as a release of 9/22.

I remember catching some scenes from Jubei-Chan and thinking "Hey, this looks promising" only to wind up being crushingly disappointed. The fights were good, but the humor (which was always kind of dubious in the first series) went way too far over the top and I gave up after three of the discs.

For those of you tracking, Jubei-Chan shows as 10/27 release.

This sounded familiar so I looked it up and then I remembered every awful thing about it (not just of its quality, but things like its uncomfortable sexualized content with underage characters). This is supposedly getting a Blu-ray? Before a lot of good stuff not on the format gets released? Well ain't that just peachy!

Sorry for the necrobump. I just found out this came out on Blu-ray from Media Blasters and apparently it's an upscale. Anyone know anything about that?

This was shared a few years ago. Some of the users on this forum have high standards and can be picky but others viewers don't notice things in motion or pause to fully analyze frames and can still find enjoyment in what's available.

Just watched this last night and it does appear to be an upscale but it's done really well. Didn't notice any video issues such as stair stepping or any other pitfalls related to badly done upscales. Colors appear to be authentic without any boosting done which is great. No issues with the sound either (only listened to the JP track). Whoever did this knew what they were doing.

As far as content goes, it's a raunchy, fun and well animated ecchi comedy from the '90s. If that's your thing would recommend getting this release as this is likely the best the show is ever going to look.

The rainbow artifacting on the credits is the worst offender. Looks decent-ish overall.

I watched the OVA several years ago with a buddy of mine and we had a good time with it. That was a rental and I was thinking of owning a copy. This is better than searching out an old DVD at least.
