Default What is up with Bay?

SO are we talking payoff here...or threat...or was he just drunk?

"Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three blu-ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.

As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.

So today I saw 300 on HD, it rocks!

So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!"

Not in the last 3 pages of posts...The last post I read was everyone praising him about boycotting Paramount...

I read that last night...

Now this...which he posted last night.

He really embarassed himself. He rants one way and then flip flops on a dime not even 24 hours later on the whole thing.

I really can't come up with any remotely flattering conclusions to any of it.

Can't you see.. he's being pressured from Paramount to recant his fuss. If all the bad press gets out they will lose lots of money and so they are trying to silence him with some kind of deal.
I can't say this for sure, but it sounds like that kind of thing. Paramount is making a huge mistake with this.

I'm thinking pay-off and threat. Think about it, he just directed one of Paramount's/Dreamworks' biggest hits so far this year and they just got a $150 Mill payoff from M$ so who's to say that they didn't promise Michael Bay a cut? Then a threat of if he didn't come back and finish out his contract, that threat of never directing a big budget action film in Hollywood ever again.

He's as wishy-washy as my ex-wife.

I'll go with the "he is a mindless tool" option.

Look at the General Discussion thread...

He's under contract with Paramount. Don't any of you have corporate gigs? You can whine about your boss all you want, but at the end of the day you work for him and what he says goes.

they wouldn't do that to risk the release of Transformers. Its his film.

True. But at the same time, Paramount has a contract with him for those Transformers movies. I don't think he can buy out his own contract and go to a studio that's not bought and paid for by Microsoft (Warner Bros., I'm looking right at you now.) so he's in a bad spot (he has clout but not Steven Spielberg type clout where he could tell Paramount where could stick their contract and proceed to buy himself out) and like I said earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount cut him in on their deal just so he'd tote the company line and stop rocking the boat.
