Default Changed my Avatar! Old one to resume shortly!

I have had the same Avatar since joining in July 2007. I've never thought of changing it as I thought it was somewhat unique and many members, I think, recognize me by the image.

This is the image I have used since joining:
KNVB Logo.jpg

Things have changed for me these last few months and an avatar change to reflect that is, in my mind, something I needed to do. Maybe none of you are attached to your avatars, but I am. Call me strange, call me weird or flame me....this change is a necessity for me.

I have also removed all of my gallery pics, but will re-submit them in good time. To those that rated my gallery and left comments...thank you! I've seen many of yours and I hope that I was as generous with the votes and comments I left behind.

The new avatar is an abstract image of Stevie Ray Vaughan that I have hanging in my living room.

Thanks for reading!

John

Jimi Hendrix was the innovator...Stevie Ray however is the better guitar maestro IMO!

I never used an Avatar, but now find it easier to find my own posts since I have one..... which makes it easier to find new posts in older threads

Either way.... Good luck on the "Changes" You're not singing soprano now are you?

After having the same avatar for my entire time here, I have thought about changing it. But then when I read the forum it is easier for me to recognize certain posters when they stay with the same avatar.

Your new avatar is cool.

I saw Stevie Ray at a bar named Fat Dawgs Rear in Lubbock, Texas in 1977 (or 8?). It was absolutely amazing. There were only about 40-50 people in the bar and everyone got to talk to him after the sets. I also got laid that night. It was worth remembering even with my limited remaining brain cells.

Love the SRV! I'm glad you explained what it was, though, as I would've never known.

I also agree about your Hendrix/SRV comparison. Hendrix was definitely the innovator (and I LOVE Hendrix just like I do SRV), but as far as technical skill, many since him are superior; SRV being just one of them.

True enough! Music has changed since Jimi graced us. Blues, jazz, the world scene has impacted the sound even more than what he originally gave us and we`ve luckily had the good fortune of discovering those sounds. I watch and listen to players like Jimmy Rosenberg and think....WTF! How the hell do you do that! The technical excellence today is mindboggling.

The passion however...I leave that to Jimi and Stevie!

I'll use this thread as the place to say that everyone can sleep safely.... Julia Roberts isn't going anywhere for a while.

Now that I got that out of the way, what exactly was your original avatar?

It is the crest used on the jerseys of the Dutch national football team. Where it originates, hopefully John can answer that!

I can answer that and would have....but, Mr. or Mrs. or Ms. Toefer preferred to post sarcasticly and that's the end of that.
