Netflix has released the first look at its upcoming Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, the upcoming comedy starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams and it's no ordinary first look. It's an actual short form music video for the song "Volcano Man" from the film's soundtrack, starring Ferrell and McAdams in full Eurovision costume, offering a hilarious look at the film even as it spoofs the iconic Eurovision Song Contest competition.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is directed by David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) and stars Ferrell and McAdams as aspiring Icelandic musicians Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir who get a chance to compete at Eurovision. In addition to Ferrell and McAdams, the film stars Pierce Brosnan, Demi Lovato, and Dan Stevens. A soundtrack for the film will feature original songs from the film including one performed by Lovato herself.

Ferrell and the ESC could be comedy gold. Being on Netflix it will be cheap to find out so i'm in for this.

It’s a bit odd they didn’t release this over the weekend, with it being the actual Eurovision weekend. Ferrell has been really slumming it over the years, and with it being Netflix my hopes aren’t too high, but maybe the documentary style might be a bit inspired, and the cast list seems fun.

But they’re not going to top some of the actual entries that were supposed to be performing this year:

I'm looking forward to it because I love Rachel. Especially in comedies. But I'm waiting to watch it because it's not one I want to watch alone.

It's tonally weird (it's mostly a comedy but it has more dramatic beats than you expect) but some of the songs are actually good and it feels like a Pitch Perfect movie of some sort.

It met my expectations. It was “Will Ferrell does Eurovision” and very, very funny at times. Some decent songs, too.

I hate Will Ferrell but love Rachel & Eurovision. I am going to give it a try this weekend. I was surprised at how good it’s reviews are.

I hope some of the past winners pop up (mainly Conchita).

Decent movie. The Eurovision parody bits are quite hilarious at times, but the underlying storyline is very unoriginal, so if you don't know much about Eurovision I doubt you'd enjoy this. 3/5.

Watched it last night with the wife and we loved it. It helps to be a little acquainted with the real Contest but honestly if your like me and you have a soft spot for Will Ferrell goofiness or your like my wife and have a soft spot for an underdog/love story then you will enjoy this. Is it original? No. It is well made? Yes. Pierce Brosnan is also great as the very stern father. Racheal and Will also have great chemistry together. If I had to critique anything I would say it could have been edited a little more but that's a minor complaint that I might not feel should I watch it a second time. I laughed pretty hard many times and my wife cried at the end. I'd say make a drink, kick back on the couch and keep any expectations at the door. 3.5-4/5
