wrt the XXX Female Vampire, I agree. Although I like seeing all the permutations of Franco movies, a number of the 'XXX inserts' version are not so good. Female Vampire is a case in point, its a slowly paced hypnotic movie, the XXX inserts totally ruin it and are not exactly 'sexy' either. There is a very very brief bit of H/C in the standard movie if you can track down the right version, but its barely noticeable and is missing from most prints.

agree with you on that
even most of his purely pornographic films are basically satrical episodes with all the flaccidness and the upbeat daniel white scores forgot which one but lina and maybe mabel escano while they are both attempting to pleasure the men orally while having a conversation amongst themsekves about where they were taking their mothers for motners day and of course the flaccid units and all makes it a parody of sorts also el ojete de lulu is a comic porn flick
feutche lippen aka cocktail special is one that comes to mind that may of been his first pure hardcore flick thats the remake of eugenie of sorts that one is very dark and forbodding no holds bar non sugar coated very decent highly recommened that one also el miron y la exhibicionista is a good one probably his most well known porno also linas directoral debut when she was using her candy coster anoymn intimate confessions of an exhibsinist is alot of fun and justine and the whip is still mindblowing such a great collaboration between the masters
there was a time about twenty years back where all that was watched were franco films day in day out very intense period of my life to say the least the element of mystical cosmic beauty in his films were dissolving me alot of his best films which are my personal favorites will never be released and that is alrite they should still be seen by the few who are willing to go down deep into that world that

I only just learned about him like a decade ago (thanks to the doom metal band Electric Wizard mentioning his films in an interview), but I have tried to see as many of his movies as possible. Some are definitely more solid than others, but I really appreciate his wild approach to filmmaking and lurid eroticism.

I know these aren’t deep cuts, but some of my favorites are:

- Diabolical Dr. Z
- Female Vampire (Lena Roman is one of the sexiest women of all time)
- She Killed in Ecstasy (Soledad was one of the all-time beauties)
- Bloody Moon

Still have a lot more to see! Looking to build up my library.

anyone know of the other side of the mirror/the obscene mirrior/al otro lado del espejo being released? it's a franco film i've been wanting to watch for a while, but i can't seem to find any info on a blu-ray/dvd release. although a quick google search says that the spanish version has been restored, and that's from an article back in 2013.

any help would be appreciated

btw rewatched nightmares come at night and i truly feel this is one of his bests. awesome psycheldic visuals, abstract story with symbolism and great score by nicolai

I've seen this VHS quality. Confusing film, but sufficiently interesting for Severin /
Mondo Macabro / Blue Underground or whomever to make it a priority acquisition.
It might be one of Franco's best films.

yeah i read it's really good.

also, some more research - there are 3 distinct versions of the film, the spanish, italian and french. apparently the spanish version is the closest to a director's cut, while the french changes the plot a bit and the italian has HC inserts

one of my copys is a even more extended cut with a whole scene of the band playing great stuff
the obscene mirror is the cut where instead of howard vernon hanging its lina romay as the sister defintly worth watching yet highly doubtful either will be officially released really feel you need to see this one if youre interested in having a copy mailed to you send word if you will enjoi that

really nice of you, thanks for the offer. but i do have an *illegally* obtained copy on my pc, i believe the spanish version, that i can watch. was hoping for an official release, but i suppose the downloaded copy will do for now.
