Default Jvc XV-BP1 Blu-ray Player Will Sell For Around $253 From Some Discount Web Companies

According to a very reliable source of mine the JVC XV-BP1 that has a suggested retail price of $299.95 well be selling for around $253 from some discount mail order companies when large quantities of the player become available. Mid April should be the arrival of this player at discount mail order companies. Product can always be delayed.

This profile 2.0 BLU-RAY player from JVC has 1080p/24 upconvert for DVD discs and lacks legacy 480I S-Video output just like the new Panasonic DMP-BD60K.

I just ordered it from Buy.com yesterday. Fed Ex says I'll have it tomorrow! I paid $257.00 with free shipping, and no sales tax. I hope it works as good as it's specs. I was going to get the Panasonic DMP-80BDK, but the price of the JVC was too good to resist. I have a JVC TV and VCR (gasp! I still have Laser disc too!), and am happy with them..sooo we'll see. I am going to buy a blu-ray movie or two today...I'll post my findings!

Ok...I love it. The only dis-like is there is no USB port on the back, so if you choose to do and BD Live stuff, you will have a thumb drive hanging out the front. I think I am going to use a small cable, plug it in and loop it around the back and then plug the thumb drive in.

I tried using the optical cable and the coaxial, and like the coax better for audio. I don't have a 7.1 receiver yet, but I swear the 5.1 sounds better than a standard DVD, and it seems the Coax is doing a better job.

Picture quality was great, no stutter or lag on Death Race.

Boot up time was wicked fast, not much different than a standard DVD player.

All in all, a lot of bang for the buck.

The only real complaint I have is that the remote is not lighted...I don't understand why companies keep doing that.

Great to hear it's a fast player!

P.S. much of the audio would indeed sound better then a DVD even using S/PDIF outputs (i.e. coax or optical). DVD sound tracks were 448Kbps Dolby Digital or typically 768Kbps DTS. On most Blu-ray releases the Dolby Digital (640Kbps) and DTS core (1.5Mbps) tracks are at the maximum bitrates the audio formats allow unlike DVD.

Anymore impressions of this machine? Does anybody else have one? I would love to hear how the advanced codecs sound when bitstreamed. How about some pictures of the front and back panels????

Anymore updates on this player? Anyone else have one? It would be nice to have some load times from some infamously long loading discs?

Spec page here says no DTS-HD MA decoding, but that was just a rumor: https://www.blu-ray.com/players/play...132&show=specs

any confirmation?
