United Kingdom Pitch Black (2000) 4K UHD

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089CLPG...&s=dvd&sr=1-11

Quote:
THERE S A NEW REASON TO BE AFRAID OF THE DARK.

A sci-fi/horror sleeper hit that birthed a franchise and launched the career of a new action movie icon, Pitch Black holds its own today as a nerve-shredding creature-feature in which the monsters outside finally meet their match against a monster within.

When an intergalactic transport ship crashes on a remote desert planet with no sign of help on the horizon, the survivors, led by Fry (Radha Mitchell), band together to find a way back home. Among the passengers is Riddick (Vin Diesel), a convicted murderer being transported by marshal Johns (Cole Hauser) and now freed of his chains and on the loose. But as a solar eclipse plunges the planet into total darkness, a threat even worse than Riddick reveals itself, and the last humans standing may have to form an uneasy truce with the cunning fugitive (whose eyes have been surgically altered to see in the dark) to last the long night.

Boasting crackerjack direction and a whip-smart script by David Twohy, as well as a star-making performance by Diesel, Riddick s first outing is freshly unleashed in an illuminating, brand new 4K restoration, with hours of exclusive bonus content.

This was actually the first film I bought on DVD. Long before Vin Diesel became a household name (and the multiple attempts of varying quality to turn Riddick into a franchise), this low budget sci-fi tale was a great experience. I'd love to revisit it in 4K.

Arrow picked the right movie to be their first ever 4K Blu-ray release!
I'm so going to go out my way and import this one!

I didn't even know they had the rights to this?

Not a big fan, but I might just get it to support any potential Arrow UHD releases. It's about time.

Hopefully Deep Red, Blood And Black Lace and many other Italian classics aren't far behind.

All the possibilities going round in my head. I don't give a sh*t if they release UHDs like Robocop so soon after the HD. Just give it all to me Arrow.

Wow. Here's hoping David M does the encoding and this will make Universals Bluray look like a VHS.

I've taken enough grumpy posts from Geoff about UHD not going to upsurge this year with next gen support on the horizon. But what does this look like

I believe credit card companies are also lobbying hard for this.

Looks to me like physical, especially UHD, will continue to be a niche market all the same. You make it sound as if there will be some sort of UHD boost like with DVD in the early 2000s.

I think it is clear physical media will eventual go out the way of the dinosaur, even though that might take a little while (fortunately). As much as I hate to say it, digital is where the future is at in the long run. And neither boutique labels or next gen consoles going UHD is going to change that...

I still think that's got **** all to do with it, in all honesty. UHD is just reaching that point in a format's life (it's four years old already) where the indies are finally able to make the numbers work. But we'll just have to go on believing what we want to believe, and carry on enjoying what we get while we can get it. Bravo Arrow in any case. Now where them Criterion UHDs at?

DJR has the right idea tho
