Not sure if the UK release is the same, but the US UHD has a decent amount of extras, StudioCanal seem to have put mostly commentaries on their Carpenter UHD movie discs.

Yes, it's good to have choices. I already pre-ordered the Studio-Canal limited edition. Debating whether or not to get the limited version from Arrow Video.

...which is why they come with bonus discs that contain the extras, from a quick glance there's nothing there on the Arrow that the SC won't have. But as Arrow aren't bundling bonus BDs or 1080p movie BDs with their 4K discs (aside from Life After Sam on Flash's limited edition 4K) then they're having to stuff all the movie extras onto the 4K discs. I don't envy FiM having to put together that Pitch Black disc with two versions of the movie and all those extras.

Do we know for a fact if there is anything special about the included Queen Soundtrack CD? Was it remastered or remixed for this special set? Any new tracks? Or is it the exact same CD that's been available for years that you can pick up for $5 in a Walmart bin?

I've seen nothing to suggest it's not the standard CD. Most likely the 2011 remaster.

Based on quick look the big difference besides disk extras being rearranged and life after flash having a separate disk (vs its on the extras for us) it appears the one difference is the final episode of the adventures of flash tv show 2 episode finale. No sure if the same as on the dvd or a remaster or new commentary or anything. But that seems the only extra missing on us. Anyone else see something i missed?

Life after flash is on a separate disc with both USA Arrow Video and UK StudioCanal limited edition releases
Arrow Video Life after Flash disc includes extras not in included the standard Arrow Video editions
Arrow Video release includes extras not included in UK StudioCanal edition

Life after flash is not included with Arrow Video standard editions

UK limited edition is 5 discs
USA Arrow Video both 4K and Blu-ray Limited Editions are 2 Discs each

Arrow Video has 4 Editions
1)4K Limited Edition ( 2 Discs) 2nd Disc is Life after flash
2)Blu-ray Limited Edition ( 2 Discs) 2nd Disc is Life after flash
3)4K Standard Edition (1 Disc)
4)Blu-ray Standard Edition (1 Disc)

UK StudioCanal 4 Editions
1)4K Limited Edition (5 Discs) Disc 1 4K Film/Disc 2 Blu-ray Film/ Disc 3 Extras Disc/ Disc 4 Life After Flash/ Disc 5 CD Soundtrack
2)4K SteelBook (3 Discs) Disc 1 4K Film/Disc 2 Blu-ray Film/Disc 3 Extras
3)Blu-ray Standard edition (2 Discs) Film disc 1 extras disc 2
4)Dvd standard edition (1 Disc)

StudioCanal and Arrow Video both have same 4K remastered scan restoration
Zavvi SteelBook listing life after flash is likely copy and paste error unless its a 4 disc release

Although I'm usually a huge fan of Arrow... and they're even releasing the title in my region... in this case I think I'm going to have to go with StudioCanal and import the 5-disc UK edition.

I'm glad Arrow's going 4K, but I'm still a bit annoyed by their reluctance to throw a BD disc in with the UHD. In my house I've got 3 TVs, all 3-D. Two are HD with regular region-free blu-ray players, the other is a 4K OLED with a modded region free Oppo. Since I don't always watch in 4K, I do like to have choice. Also, I don't have this soundtrack already, and I'd like a copy.

I hope Arrow eventually rethinks their UHD strategy, and releases UHD/BD sets. Maybe just forget the BD-only sets of titles they release in 4K.

Yeah I'v got a mix of UHD in the bedroom and just HD/BR downstairs, I can't say stuff like the Carpenter films get much watching with the latter setup but Flash I can definitely see watching that with family.

I suspect part of the issue maybe were the master comes from? stuff like Flash and Pitch Black done by someone else probably cut the margins down more than Cinema Paradiso done for themselves.

I've got both the SC steelbook and 'box o' tat' edition pre-ordered and am in a real quandary around which to go for.

The box set has five disks, one of which we know will be the CD.

The Zavvi steelbook has three disks, but the listing still reckons it has the Life After Flash documentary. I can't see how that can be.

I'm not too impressed by the steelbook design, but I don't see a particular need to pay £20 extra for art cards, booklets and reproduction poster, especially when I have a full-size original.

I'm wondering if I should just wait for an eventual standard release, however long that will be with SC, but as a big Flash fan I want my mitts on the film as soon as it's out.

I suspect that's an error, they probably just trimmed down the listing for the 5 disk set and left the Life After Flash line on incorrectly, the alternative would have to be that it doesn't include the film on BR.

The postcards as shown in the Arrow marketing images show screenshots from the film, like lobby cards. The Studio Canal shows alternate poster art, which I like better. But the Arrow does list this under features:

Fold-out double-sided poster featuring original and newly commissioned artwork

Six double-sided, postcard-sized lobby card reproductions, alternative posters and promotional images

Limited Edition packaging with reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Adam Rabalais

So the lobby cards for the Arrow are double-sided. Is it safe to guess then that the reverse sides of those postcards have the alternate poster art, as shown in the Studio Canal edition?

My god that old BD looks absolutely terrible! Amazing how bad some BDs are.

Unbelievable. I cancelled my UK order and went with Arrow's because I assumed the Studio Canal would ship in the same lousy cardboard slipbox their other releases have had, and I didn't feel like dealing with damage. Now that I cancelled it, I'm seeing they went with a nice sturdy box.

Where are you seeing pics of the packaging? I'm not finding anything.

Mine says still awaiting shipment, but is also still estimating it should ship by the 10th. I am in the states though so I’m sure it will take a bit when ever it ships
