Van Wilder - Blu-ray Forum

I don't know how many college guys are on this forum, but Van Wilder is a must! I got it last night at Wal-Mart, last copy, can't believe they sold out in a day. Its only 20 bucks and has excelent BD-J features. There is a pretty sweet Testicles of the Wild Kingdom game, wher you see a close up of a wild beasts balls and have to guess what animal it is, there is also a quiz game about the movie, and you can turn on the Drunken Commentary, which is basically commentary from the cast while they are plastered (beware: commentary on means its off, and commentary off means its on). the picture was a tad soft, but still pretty good, 7.1 uncompressed PCM, overall I had a great time with the movie last night and its a pick up for anybody who love national lampoon movies.

Hmm, I remember reading a review on this one, I think it was DVDTalk. They gave the video quality 1 and half stars out of 5 stars.

I'll have to check it out for myself to see if it's really as bad as they say it is.

its around the level of Big Fish which is nothing exceptional IMO. Don't go into this thinking OMG its going to be prestine PQ. Get it cause its a funny movie. IMO funny movies don't have to look as great as 007, Die Hard, etc.

Point taken. However, I do like clarity and depth in the picture. 'Waiting' did look decent overall on Blu-ray though.

I don't think it was released in Canada yet for some reason.

I went to Futureshop and it wasn't there, and it's not on the bestbuy.ca website. How often often does this happen?

I don't care about PQ, as long as the price is right, I'm getting it for the comedy.

It should be in stores now or any day now, I think they may be shipping it to Maple (Canadian division of Lionsgate) from the USA which may explain the delay. This often happen with Lionsgate titles.

Already own this on SD DVD, have to check out the extras as Im only going to replace movies that are really worth it..... SD DVD ones looks fine up-converted on PS3

Some bestbuy locations where I live, just east of Toronto, rarely have the new blu rays in stock the day of their release. When I went to pick up The Fifth Element Remastered on the day it came out, bestbuy kept on taking me to the old version of it, and I refuted and told them about the remastered and they said they did not have it.

Then when Host came out I went to bestbuy and asked if they got it, and they said the delivery truck that has it is three days late. So I went to look at the New Releases area for BD, DvD and HDDuD titles, and one of the tags said 'New Release - Master & Commander (BluRay) '. I laughed at them and told them to get their 'stuff' together because it was just really sad. Both times I just went to Futureshop across the street and got it, but now I just order my Blu Rays from Amazon.Com.

For Those who have waiting, how would you rate the PQ on it? I am going to pick it up soon. I love that movie. I just ordered Starship Troopers and The Rock from Amazon UK. I CAN"T WAIT TO WATCH THEM.

I just checked it out as I recently realized that i may had made a mistake. In Canada, Alliance Atlantis distribute the movie, not Maple (Lionsgate).

That may be why it's not on either Amazon.ca or BestBuy.ca, FutureShop.ca

You'll need to contact Alliance Atlantis about it. They did release some Blu-ray titles like The Queen, The Great Raid, The Host, etc on Blu-ray. So you may be in luck.

Yea, I picked it up last night but haven't checked the PQ. I assumed it was good given the large array of bonus features and the 7.1 PCM... you sure the PQ was bad?

Great detail! Hardly any grain whatsoever, definitely a huge step-up from the DVD version.. my only quibble is the washed out colors

is this worth buying on blu ray i own the film on sd dvd but was going to buy it on blu ray today but alot of people say the pq is very bad

for a comedy, it was alright but it would definintly be a BOGO for me. (if we ever get one again!)

If you need good college humor, check out the TV show Greek. It should make ya laugh. i picked up season 1 today... its great!

The reviews I've read says the PQ is bad.

They gave the video quality 1 and half stars out of 5 stars. I'll have to check it out for myself to see if it's really as bad as they say it is.
