On the one hand, i admire the enthusiasm. On the other i'm skeptical if we end up staggering around to figure the new UI out compared to the simplified UI from the XMB we've basically had 10+ years to get used to. I'll wait and see. The PS Button prompt during the PS5 event was probably the very first look at it but it had the PS3 & PS4 esque dust particle effect.

I personally am not a fan of the horizontal list of games on the PS4's main selection menu. It's slow, clumsy and a pain trying to find one game of over a hundred in a horizontal list. I flick over to the library and try to find it that was faster. So I welcome this new interface they're hinting at, if it's better than the PS4's and the PS3's.

Am curious to see what the UI team has in store for us. Will they part ways entirely away from XMB style? If the final UI is clean & fast, I don’t mind a switch up as long as they keep it simple. People like simple. ![]() |

15 would be a lot easier to find quickly in that horizontal list, but I like the ability to quickly start a game I haven't played in awhile, having many on disc. One thing I wish, is for a favorite list of games to have as the main list, and then everything else could be in a separate list. I hope Sony offers that option. Like being able to create your own games list folders to sort through on PS5. |

You can also create custom folders so you can make your own Favourites folder and place any games you want in it if that helps. To be honest I have never bothered with the folders option although I know it was a greatly requested feature for a long time so it was a welcome addition. |

I wonder how they might leverage the PS5 capabilities into the UI. You could possibly move the cursor over a game selection. This triggers a "wheel" of icons: title screen, one player, MP, favorites, or saved games for examples. Making your choice pops you straight into your content directly from the interface.

Microsoft don't want console generations and Sony still do so not surprising that Sony would put effort into making something feel like a new console instead of the same old thing. Which is unfortunate because the one that needs the overhaul more won't get it. Have hated their UI's ever since they updated the 360 UI and got rid of the blades which were perfect short of the ads.
