Default Monty Python's Flying Circus: The Complete Series (Restored)

This will be available through Madman Entertainment on 19 Aug 2020.

Quote:

Years in the making, The entire original television series of Monty Python’s Flying Circus has been fully rejuvenated for the first time. Sketches, some edited for timing, taste and copyright reasons, have been carefully restored to their intended length and the majority of Terry Gilliam’s animations have been newly scanned in High Definition and restored to a specification way beyond their original format. Hitherto unseen outtakes, film inserts and studio recordings have been retrieved, adding yet another dimension to this exclusive release. This is the ultimate television restoration and a must for every generation of Python fan.
Special Features

Previously unseen outtakes
Extended scenes and sketches
Restored-to-full-length sketches including Ursula Hitler, Cartoon Religions, A Book At Bedtime and much more.
Hopefully, the packaging will be better than that of the initial OS release.

Madman brings you Monty

EzyDVD's price is $129.97. JB will likely sell it for less. Once it's on sale, you should be able to get it for close to $100.

Aww, hell yeah!

I was hoping that a local distributor would pick this up. In fact, I was just looking into importing the U.K. release a couple of nights ago.

Judging by the Network logo, I hope that these are identical to the U.K. discs (minus the awful packaging).

Still cheaper than the U.K. release (and that's before taking shipping/GST into consideration). That said, it's a few times more expensive than what I had paid for the DVD set back in the day.

I can't seem to access EzyDVD at the moment, but according to Madman's B2B website, $129.95 is the standard price for the DVD.

Ooh, I've been considering pulling the trigger on the "exploding box Norwegian edition" for a while now. Wonder if we will receive any sort of similar deluxe packaging.

From the pics it doesn't appear so, and honestly it's for the better.

The Fancy Box was nothing but trouble.

Noice!

I'd be keen to see how JB decides to price these as they often sell items below RRP (for example, they sell the Danger 5 Blu-rays for $20 under RRP).

I'd be stoked if we still get the booklet.

Take it from me a an owner of the "exploding box" and the booklet edition. It was so not worth it for the trouble it caused and it barely functions as a box. I really wish they would have put the pixley booklets as one Book like they did with The Goodies Boxset the year before/RIP Tim Brooke Taylor..yeah the damn Covid-19 virus/. Each season digpack weighs a pound/.07 Stone/ each with booklets. And lastly the little pamphlet that explains whats disc content should have been printed on the inner flap of each season set, instead nothing is printed inside ech season digi at a glance just to see episode name/titles. Once an practical version of this set appears i will be unloading it or at least the exploding box

Yeah, I have the box as well and can second the complaints. Parts of it were damaged (not sure if it was a result of transit, either) and the whole thing is unnecessarily bulky. The restoration is incredible, through.

Purchased this recently. Hard outer box, 4 amaray cases inside box. No booklets but all on disc content present and accounted for, and yes the HD upscale does look nice. Plus an added bonus. No Big ugly ratings logos, anywhere, once you remove shrink wrap.

Nice! I saw a bunch of them at my local JB yesterday, but I'm going to wait for 20% off as it's just a tad too pricey (especially considering that I had only paid about $40 for the DVD set about a decade ago).

I'm glad each season is in its own case. I'm also glad that the rating isn't printed on the box or cases as Via have printed the incorrect consumer advice on the sticker anyway.

TBH any advice other than "contains very silly content" is incorrect.

Made my way through the first series. Funny, I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and watched it from episode 1 right through to the end. Definitely an experience.

Default Disc One error

Hi all,

Has anyone else had playback issues with Series One, Disc One?

I've tested two copies of the boxset and both times the second half of 'Whither Canada' and the first few minutes of 'Sex and Violence' won't play properly. The disc keeps skipping ahead a few seconds. I only have the one blu-ray player so I can't test it on another system.

Otherwise I'm really happy with the box set as a whole.

Cheers.
