Default When is your Next Gen cut off point?

As we move into the next generation console launch, do you have a cut off point your not going to buy games for the current consoles?

Ghost of Tsushima will probably be my final game purchase for this gen, after that I’ll probably just live off my library on both systems till mid September/early October, trade them both in and wait.

Any games that come out after that I’ll save them up to play on the new systems.

Whenever I end up getting the new systems lol.

But I think after Last of Us, and Tony Hawk, I'm done buying games for a while...so maybe then?

I don’t really have one. I’ll keep buying PS4 games until I get a PS5. I’m not going to miss out on playing something I really want (like Cyberpunk 2077).

I sold my Switch and PS4 two years ago, and Xbox One X last year, bring on the new consoles! I'm saving for the PS5 already, and I'm holding out on VR headsets for the PSVR2. I don't know if I'll get an Xbox SeX yet, maybe in 2 years.

Exactly. I'm in no rush to get a PS5. Based on how big the thing is, I'll wait for a slim version. It'll take a Days Gone sequel or FFVIIR 2 to get my money.

I don’t have one, but I saved some games for the ps5, most importantly Red Dead Redemption 2, I think it’s too good and big to be played on current gen, the same apply to Cyberpunk but this got pushed back anyway

other games I saved for ps5:
- Sekiro
- Devil May Cry 5
- Doom Eternal
- Jedi Fallen Order (this one struggles on current systems apparently)

My backlog is so huge (and I haven't stopped working) that I need to make myself stop picking up games. I really don't see a need for a new console anytime in the near future. It would probably take an amazing killer app.

Played all of those on a PS4 slim along with Red Dead Redemption 2. I didn’t want to be playing catch up with PS4 games while PS5 games are coming out. I played through Jedi Fallen Order twice, no issues with it

You kidding? There're still games from the PS2 era I'd like to get ahold of and play

Bought or pre-ordered my last current gen game recently.

Ghost of Tsushima

I pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 before that. So technically that is gonna be my last 8th gen game purchased.

I actually have it under my PS5 list, not PS4.

2020 has been my cut off point with the exception of Dreams and I kind of regret buying that. Everything else that has or will be coming this year is getting played on PS5...

FF7 Remake
The Last of Us Part 2
Ghost of Tsushima
Cyberpunk 2077

I've pretty much written off this gen. The jet engine... I mean PS4 Pro under my tele is mainly used as a media box for Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, Sky Go etc.

I've got a few PS4 games ready and waiting for day one. Also, PS4 games releasing now (TLoU2, GoT, Cyberpunk) should be much cheaper around Christmas due to sales etc. Once those have been played to completion (3 to 6 months after launch) the PS5 launch games should have come down in price as well. It's a win win knock on affect

I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of PS5.

I've pretty much had a cut off point for a whole bunch of this year and all purchases typically being held off for the next gen. There are small exceptions which are great digital sales and very cheap titles. Apart from that, all new releases have been nixed until next gen.

Bought Last of Us 2 just because I doubt I can avoid spoilers for 5+ months.

I don't have one. Everything I'm buying has been, or will be, cross buy. I'd love a ps5 at launch, but we don't know the price, so I don't know if I'll be able to afford it. If I can afford it, it doesn't mean I'll find one in stock or be able to pre-order it in time. I may as well play PS4 versions of the games I want, and get the free upgrades later.
