Vizio's OLED TVs with HDMI 2.1 to launch this fall, starting at $1300

Vizio will launch its first OLED TVs this fall. The TVs will be equipped with HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR features, and will be cheaper than LG's most affordable OLED TVs.

The new OLED TVs that were announced in January at CES 2020 will arrive this fall. The company is now referring to it as '2021 models ' due to delays most likely caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The good news is that Vizio's OLED TVs will launch at very agressive $1300 (55") and $2000 (65") price points, making them more affordable than even LG's BX series of OLED TVs, although LG is expected to bring down prices further as we approach fall.

Vizio's OLED TVs will feature 4K resolution and two HDMI 2.1 ports capable of receiving up to 4K120 for next-generation game consoles and players. The TVs will also support HDMI VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and AMD FreeSync for smoother gaming experiences. Vizio's OLED TVs will have a VRR range of 40 to 120Hz, which is higher than its new LCD TVs but similar to LG OLED TVs.

That bodes well for sale prices. Since I seem to recall their premium TV's either launching "on sale" for a few hundred off, or getting big sale prices within the first several weeks of release.

I am looking for the best quality OLED flat panel first, and price second. A professional review from Widescreen Review magazine and/or Sound and Vision magazine would be able to determine if VIZIO is better then Sony and LG OLED displays.

I am very interested in the VIZIO OLED displays since they will be the very first OLED displays with all the most used HDR formats. VIZIO OLED’s will launch with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision HDR. Philips Technicolor HDR exists but no studios support that HDR format yet, and it might become a dead unused HDR format.

We'll see what their processors are like, but the panel etc, like Sony, is from LG OLED. So I don't imagine it will be any sort of major drop in PQ from the those brands.

For about 1 second I saw 3D and thought Vizio did something good in the 4K OLED space....nope, worthless.

And as far as I know, every flagship and near flagship Vizio the past few years has supported Atmos.

Did they post a different article, cuz this is the only one I'm seeing on FlatPanels that lists the Vizio OLED specs and I don't see anything saying there's no Atmos support...

Are you referring to that sites spec sheets? Atmos is NOT "checked" on the spec sheet, but the question mark in that section clearly explains it just means the TVs own speakers aren't able to produce it. And that the TV CAN support/output it via HDMI eARC...

It will be interesting to see Vizio's price/performance ratio on these. Of course LG Display is the only source for these large WRGB-based OLED panels, and I would imagine that even given large purchasing volumes, there is a price point LG Display can't/won't go below per panel.

Ok, so I guess I was wrong about the previous point, thankfully. Do I see this being better than LG or Sony? No. But the fact this has both DV and 10+ is intriguing, to say the least.

I think Vizio is on the bottom of the Top End Displays, but people still think they are the best. I guess price always wins out!
