I did a search and did not find anything on this one. Anybody watch it yet? thoughts on the film...PQ...AQ? I have read very good things about the film, but I would like to see what the community thinks.

It should be arriving to my house anyday now. I heard one reviewer say that Hitchcock would love this film. I'm pretty excited to see this one. I'll let you know as soon as I see it.

They did say that the picture quality and audio is superb. This is from at least five different blu-ray review sites including this one.

There's a good review in here. I enjoyed it, and thought the PQ and AQ were very good. I recommend it.

Reviews of both the French and US versions can be found on this site and there appears to be little to choose between them if you can live without the ten minute film J’peux pas dormir only available on the French disc (and if it ever comes out in the UK it should be on that as it was on the DVD). The film itself is hugely enjoyable adding a few twists to keep it from being too predictable to fans of Harlan Coben's gripping novel. Coben's new book, the ninth in the Myron Bolitar series Long Lost is due shortly and Deal Breaker is under development as a film

I will agree about PQ on this movie: it's beautiful on Blu-Ray. But I watched it last night (Netflix rental on Blu) and I have to disagree about the movie itself. For what has been reviewed as a "taut, suspenseful thriller... Hitchcockian.... one of the best and most intense films of 2008" .... be prepared for a movie that's extremely slow-paced and boring. Yes, it's a quality film with an ending that made the 2 hours and 5 minutes feel slightly worth the time spent, but it's not the picture that all of the reviews have painted. Parts of it (thinking of the U2 song montage here) felt so out-of-place, and so derivative of every "here's a powerful moment and just in case you don't realize its gravity we're sticking a U2 song behind it to punch it up" moment in American movies, that the film got sidetracked. Add to that some torturously French moments (pensive glances, pensive facial expressions, that take about 4 minutes each of film time) and you have a movie that has pacing problems. At the one-hour mark, I was looking at the clock. At 1:20 I was thinking, "maybe I should just skip to the last 10 minutes to see how it ends." If this had been a blind-buy for me, I would've been extremely disappointed.

So yes, I thought it was a good, or quality, movie. But I didn't really enjoy it and found a lot of problems with it. I feel that the reviews led me to believe it was one type of film, and that's not what it actually was. Just my $.02.

Just finished watching it. Thought it was very good, though I have to say that it didn't 'grab' me in the way that other films of this genre do. It's got excellent PQ, but just falls short of demo-quality. Yes, it was slowly paced, but certainly not boring, at least not for me, and they've even thrown a decent chase scene into the mix. It's much more of a mystery than a thriller, and it's got plenty of twists and turns to always keep you guessing. As reviews have indicated, you really need to concentrate and follow along closely, as the plot gets more and more complex as the film progresses.

I just watched this last night via Netflix Watch Instantly, and thought it was pretty good. Not the most amazing movie I've ever seen, but not a bad one to spend 2 hours with.

Anyone know how the image and audio quality of the USA release compares to the French release?

I watched totally in French and i liked. It's not for everyone though. if you've seen Swimming Pool then you'd understand that they have the same pacing. I loved Swimming pool but i only liked this one.

Oh and the chase on foot in this movie is one of the best i've seen. Watch carefully the freeway scene. Wow

Yeah if you loved swimming Pool. Give this one a try.

I think I wasn't the target audience for this film, because I also really disliked Swimming Pool.... extremely slow-paced. Just couldn't get into it.

i see your point, but didn't feel that. the lyrics of that song definitively pointed out what was going through his mind at the time, when he ran to the internet cafe, so not sure how it sidetracked anything. sure its a U2 song, but they are european after all?

well to me, "pensive" precisely defines Alex's mindset throughout most of the film, so again, these glances/expressions throughly reinforce the plot, don't take away anything from it.

easily the best thriller i've seen in the last 5 years, maybe ever!!! definitely buying this!!

PQ on the french release is top notch too...and yet, it was one of the first BD released in France back in 2007.

I saw this in the local indie theatre and thought it was great, so I bought the bd first day. It has great PQ and AQ and is a great story, too. Harlan Coben writes some pretty good books. Hopefully if any more are turned into movies, they will be as good.
