Cross another game off the “Wii U Games That Still Need To Come To Switch” list. Beloved action-puzzler Pikmin 3 is getting the deluxe treatment, releasing on Switch October 30 with full story mode co-op, new side missions, lock-on targeting, and new difficulty options.
There’s nothing quite like guiding colourful plant creatures with unique abilities across a supersized alien planet. Pikmin 3, which didn’t get nearly enough love on the Wii U, gets a second chance as Pikmin 3 Deluxe. I’m looking forward to trying to play through story mode with one or both of my children in the co-pilot seat. The game includes all content from the Wii U release, including DLC missions, along with a series of new side-story missions that can also be played in co-op mode. That’s more Pikmin goodness than we probably deserve. Nintendo has been tweeting out new features coming to Deluxe as well, including details on the new side story missions and the Piklopedia, where players can learn about the creatures they encounter and collect in-game badges. |

Same. Other than I played it a little and struggled to get into it. Still have the Wii I hooked up to a TV for Wii Fit so I’ll just play it there if I ever get the urge.

I got the original of this as a free download for buying something else but never did end up playing it. Loved the first one though, maybe I'll actually end up playing this version sometime.
(Or I guess I could just dig my U out of the closet...) |

$60? Are they insane? Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and NSMBU all over again.
Pikmin isn’t for me, but we have known this was coming for a long time. Terribly kept secret. At least for fans this hopefully means the sequel will finally arrive next year. Last edited by Diesel; 08-05-2020 at 10:10 PM. |

Problematic frame rate though. This right here is a cheap port. They could have made Pikmin 1+2 HD and bundled it with it, but no. |

That control method is impossible now of course, so it will control worse. The Wii U version allowed all sorts of different controls. And its DLC was cheap plus the DLC was basically free on My Nintendo a few years ago. |

We also should mention Pokken and Hyrule Warriors (which I highly enjoyed) that should have also been $40 games. Mario Kart 8 is really the only one in my opinion that earned its original $60 price including all of its DLC which was somewhat pricey on the Wii U. But...Nintendo gonna Nintendo as they say. And as long as things sell at these prices, they won't have any reason to change it. |

Fire Emblem was absolutely worth $60, the amount of content in that game is staggering. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is worth it as well since they did a good bit of work improving the visuals and interfaces as well as adding an entirely new 10-20 hour epilogue.
I’m of the opinion that many games on all three platforms aren’t worth $60, let alone the $70 they want to charge for next gen on some. |

My only issue with Fire Emblem is its...i don't want to say cheap, but lets just say its particular graphics style isn't exactly pushing any hardware, even the Switch. I seriously doubt the developers had to spend a lot of time developing that engine. That should've been one of those 49.99 games. Last edited by Steelmaker; 08-20-2020 at 12:33 PM. |

Definitely getting this. The Pikmin games are among my all time favorites! I love the idea of being able to play this one portably, especially if there’s new content! And while I thought this game utilized the GamePad very well, it’ll be nice to be able to see and use the map on-screen.
I’d definitely get the first two if they got Switch ports as well. Sure would be nice to get a proper fourth game though. In almost twenty years (f*** lol) we’ve gotten three games and a port to a later console for each of those games. I need MOAR lol. |

I can certainly understand former WiiU owners being frustrated by all the ports to Switch, but for me (and the many others that skipped WiiU) I'm happy I'll finally be able to play 'Pikmin 3'. I loved the originals on Gamecube & even double dipped on Wii ports.
When the Switch port was announced, I picked up the 3DS spinoff game. Very different to the mainline series, but worth at least one playthrough. And surprisingly tricky, at least when attempting to get all Pikmin surviving to the end of the levels. I'd happily pick up a 'Pikmin 1&2' Switch bundle too, even if it was "just" emulation, like the 3D Mario All-Stars collection. |

I played the demo the other day, which lets you play the first couple of days. A nice visual upgrade over the old Gamecube (& Wii ports) of the first two games. But I think a few things will take a little getting used to, including no way to manually move the Pikmin around (replaced with charge button) and having to collect fruit to stay alive, that seems like it could be a pain.
What I liked about 'Pikmin 2' was the more laid back gameplay, taking as many days as you wanted/needed (compared to just 30 in the original) and 201 treasures to collect. So you could spend a day replenishing Pikmin numbers, with no penalty. Whereas it seems like the third game returned to a more timed approach, using limited food instead of a 30 day cap. I also swapped preorders from Base to Currys, I found a discount code (FNDDGAME) which dropped it down to £39.99. A little discount vs base (£42.85), and 20% off vs GAME, Amazon, Smyths etc. I used the same code last month for my 'Super Mario 3D All-Stars', so was surprised it worked again for this. |
