Default Shadow of the Colossus...movie????

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I thought readers here might appreciate the warning...

One of the most cinematic games is now making it way towards cinemas. The Shadow of the Colossus video game is being developed by producer Kevin Misher (Fighting, Public Enemies, Case 39) at Columbia Pictures. Hollywood's new favorite fanboy writer, Justin Marks of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Voltron, and Masters of the Universe, has been hired to write the screenplay. The game, which first hit shelves in 2005, follows a character known as Wander, who along with his horse Agro, travels across a western-style landscape to defeat enemies known as Collosi, while Wander tries to save the girl Mono.

Such credibility.

If there's any truth to this source, so much for a good game to movie adaption.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Lots of great games have crap movies tied in with them and no-one thinks any less of them.

I was going to originally post praise to this news until I saw who is writing the script. Still could be a great movie, yet there is some doubt now. Only time shall tell.

This could be done decently. The game relied on a bunch of emotion through the surroundings, loneliness, and epic colossi. I think the writer should focus on a "Cast Away" style of story. Not many words need to be spoken, just the experience. Replace Wilson with the horse, and pay top dollar for the CG colossi.

I fail to see how this could end up bad.

this could be an incredible film and i can't imagine it'd be hard to do, and do well.

the way they'll mess this up is by making the colossi the focus of the film.
make the colossi epic, but humbly let the character's determination and 1 track mind unfold the story.

I thought the horse was called Argo not Agro. If somebody just made a video of someone playing through the whole game it would make a better movie than what would probably turn up.

Gonna be kind of weird with only 1 person and a horse on screen for 2ish hours. The Collosi don't count. Anyone who hasn't played this game will be so lost.

Oh Jebus! Say it ain't so!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game! And think it would make a KILLER movie, but not by someone with such crappy credentials! Let the fanboy's cries be heard!

i was hoping this movie was going to directed by uwe boll. with his excellent game-to-movie track record, i'm sure he would have knocked this one out of the park

but seriously, i don't understand how this movie will turn out especially with close to zero dialogue. i bet they'll end up giving wander a gun instead of a sword, and agro will be a 1968 ford galaxie 500 (had to look this one up dirty harry, anyone?) instead of a horse.

I listen to the soundtrack regularly! Kow Otani does great works; look up some of his other soundtracks as well!

It would never work for 1 reason. How many Colossi did you kill in your first two hours playing the game (not counting exploring)? If they did make the movie, how many would he fight? my guess is 2-3 which would be a terrible movie.

if its made right, it could be huge....I'm thinking in the right hands, this could be a blockbuster....I just don't think Justin Marks has the hands to do it...and, it makes me very dissappointed.
