Will the Panny or the Pioneer have the advanced audio codecs? With delay after delay I see no reason why they would not hvae add enough time to add these features.

CEDIA only a week away!

I've said it probably since my very first post here on this forum (and before)...

These delays are good things as far as I'm concerned. More time = less rush = more future proof.

The downside: Less excuses.

I really want to see shock and awe in November. Hardware and software.

Now's the time. Git 'r' dun.

Default Some clarifications....

I like a lot this player but before the buy I want some tecnical infos:
1)Is this player able to output on the HDMI connection the "pure" 1080p signal taken from the BD movies?

2)Is this player able to read the new BD-50 DualLayer discs?

3)Is this player able to decompress the 5.1/7.1 HD streams like Dolby TRUEHD and DTS HD Master and send them through its HDMI output coded in a PCM stream?

If some one helps me to have some certain clarifications about this points .... I think in the next few day I'm going to buy this player.

thanx a lot for an help.

I keep reading talk that suggests that NONE of these first gen players are going to be able to support any of the uncompressed lossless new fangled audio codecs.

I want to see some confirmation on things like that in addition to everything actarus just mentioned.

All sorts of questions hanging in the air...

I still wonder what the Pioneer Elite has over the other players, including this one? Just the networking capability? Is that where the extra $300 on the MSRP for the Elite over this player kicks in?

Excuse me JTK but.... doesen't the SONY player have an integrated decoder that supports Dolby TRUEHD and DTS Master HD?
If I understand right the Sony player can decompress theese lossless streams and send them to the 5.1 analog outputs and/or to (in PCM) its HDMI output.
I'm wrong?

If this is real I expect that also the pansonic makes the same things.

@BRIAN:
I don't trust in the panasonic italy client service ... they are a lot of incompetents and they can tell me something absolutely wrong.
I am looking for a correspondent that can give me reliable informations.
Can you suggest me an e-mail address of some kind of panasonic's serious service?
Thanx so much for some help.
Actarus.

No way.

I guaran-damn-tee you all we aren't seeing goodies until at least October. Probably November if I had to guess.

I will be personally shocked beyond words if anything comes out in September.

At this rate, I want them to take their sweet time, even if it means a unified launch with the PS3 in November.

I think it will be worth the (growingly difficult) wait.

I can't disagree with you there. It'll take some time for blu-ray to get up to speed, but what doesn't take time to get up to speed? Sony's player comes out in October so maybe things will get better by that time.

Hopefully CEDIA can shed some light on this topic... I just want a player that has all of the decoding capability built in. Sony, Panny and Pioneer would really be dropping the ball if they made us wait all of this time only to give us a halfass player that is 2-3 times the cost of the HD-A1. I don't mind paying the extra amount of money as long as quality is involved.

You speak the truth PF.

I'm betting that early adopters will mostly see it the same way as many of them are likely HT enthusiasts used to going after the quality gear.

I think it is time for Panasonic to rush it a bit! We have waited enough. I will write e-Mail to them these days and i hope they will reply...

NO!

Rushing is the LAST thing that should happen!

That's what went wrong with the BD launch in the first place!

Hell no, I want them to take their sweet time and if that means everything comes out in November a la a unified front and "second launch" we're all the better for it.

NO RUSHING!

No, rushing is the last thing that we want. By all means, let Pioneer take their time. Hopefully at this time, better methods of making blu-ray discs and players are already underway. We need improvements to happen.

And to be fair and add to my previous post: HD-DVD rushed out to market as well.

Rushing = bad.

I agree with what you're saying "rushing = bad" Why even have HD-DVD in the first place if there is only support from one company for it? I'm saying that having it around is a bad idea, but it seems kind of silly to have it compete against blu-ray DVD when everyone knows that blu-ray will beat out HD-DVD. It's like the beta against the VHS. VHS beat out beta and beta died a horrible death.
