This doesn’t seem like the right place to ask this question but I’m not really sure where would be the better place to ask. We have standard 2K Netflix Canada, but now that we have a swanky new 4KTV, I’m wondering:
Does Netflix Canada have enough 4K titles to warrant upgrading from the standard HD package? Given Netflix Canada bitrates, is the picture quality improvement worth it to get Netflix Canada 4K over staying with standard? Thanks for any thoughts on this! |

I used 4k Netflix back when I first got my TV. At that time it was a handful of programs, Stranger Things s3 looked great, Maniac was decent, nice HDR, and Planet Earth 2 at the time was amazing.
However, after viewing PE 2 on disc, it blows Netflix’s presentatiom away. 4k I believe is only $5 more a month over HD, so I say try it out for a month or two and decide whether the amt of 4k content is enough to warrant the extra cost. I found it did not for my taste... |

We’ve got an Ignite Internet Gigabit Unlimited package with Rogers so I’m not to concerned about dropouts or anything. We should be able to handle the 4K streaming. |

I use Rogers here in Ontario, and I definitely find the 4K to be worth the extra bit of money. Pretty much all Netflix made shows from the past couple of years are in 4K, and many have Dolby Vision, which looks surprisingly good to me for something being streamed. Doesn't quite hold a candle to a high bitrate 4K UHD disc, but for me at least, the quality difference from HD to 4K is noticeable. I have two 65" 4K sets in the house, and we use the 4K Amazon Fire Sticks.

4K Netflix has been great for me. Also with Rogers in the GTA. I think it'd be worth it.
Content wise, there's plenty. Pretty much all Netflix original content is in 4K HDR or even Dolby Vision now with Dolby Atmos sound too. I don't watch too much of the non-original stuff so I can't speak for them as I'm not sure if they stream much in 4K that isn't their own property. |

You are paying for the Netflix Exclusives in 4K basically. 99.9% of the studio content they get is still locked to HD. Even movies with 4K discs like The Equalizer 2, Venom, Jurassic Park, The Meg, etc. All are only available in HD still.
That said basically every Netflix Exclusive produced in the last 3 or 4 years is available in 4K. So it comes down to whether you think the exclusives in 4K are worth it to you. Honestly the majority of people are paying for the 4K tier for the 4 concurrent streams rather than getting the content in 4K. |
