Not even worth repeating. More of the same MS BS. Sales figures speak for themselves. Paramount took the money and ran like the cheap *****s they are.

Just another shill from Microsoft. The reasoning for them going to HD-DVD is simply bogus, he already said the managed copy is no longer an issue. The HD-DVD camp continues to bring up reproduction costs and this is also a bogus argument. Of course the Blu Ray repro costs are bigger, it is a totally NEW technology, whereas HD-DVD is NOT. But like with anything else, as the format grows, more titles are released, more revenue is had, the costs will go down. Microsoft has a vested interest in having both fomats fail and eliminated as quickly as possible so they can get busy with their HD digital download service. It is as simple as that. And I also honestly believe they paid Paramount, they are the only entity on that side of the fence who has the resources and can afford such a payout. I have been in this business a long time and these are the only logical conclusions, of course, who said Hollywood is logical!

Someone should ask any of these idiots one big question.

If no money was paid, Paramount can release titles on Blu-ray anytime they want, no?

Yeah, why would Paramount offer exclusivity for free?

So people really expected a MS employee to admit to a trust violation. Yea, the EU would nail MS bigtime since Paramount distributes there. MS isn't stupid. They're not honest either. Though he has an out as I'm sure knowlege of unethical practices would be kept to as few employees as possible.

The HD-DVD group and even the BDA are ways for companies to launder money to other companies. As long as the group sends the money, who is to say what company the bulk of the funds came from.

If MS is so interested in working with the BDA, it would not be so defensive in their HD-DVD arguments.

Translation of the post:

"Microsoft supports both formats with VC-1, we would never do anything out of the ordinary and believe in neutrality. Ignore the fact a lot of us making 6 figure salaries sure evangelize for it out of the kindness of our hearts because it's so cheap!"

There, i think I summed that up nicely.

Here are the real truths (-1)

Quote:
For the record, Microsoft’s involvement in HD DVD rotates around supporting the format by:
1) Xbox 360 HD DVD drive
2) VC-1 support for BOTH formats
3) HDi support
4) Work in the DVD Forum from working groups up to the steering committee.
1) The Paramount reason is that Microsoft does not want to pay any royalties to Sony in regards to the Xbox. HD-DVD's survival guarantess this.

2) VC-1 (take out the BOTH formats BS)-HD-DVD needs it, Blu-ray does not.

3) HDi support-No HDi on Blu-ray

4) Work in the DVD Forum-Busy laundering money to studios

In a nutshell-HD-DVD is a Microsoft format made possible by Toshiba. Without Microsoft, HD-DVD is dead.
