Default Paramount BDs really not that great?

In light of Paramount's decision, I've been buying some of their current BD titles before they go off the market. I haven't watched them all yet, but the ones I have watched so far only have Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1. No uncompressed audio whatsoever. The select few that do have uncompressed audio, are still only 5.1.

The latest one I watched is Sahara. The picture looked nice, but no uncompressed audio, and after having been spoiled with my Onkyo 805 and BD titles with uncompressed audio, I found that quite noticable.

I was just looking over the specs of their cancelled, upcoming "Blades of Glory" movie; and although it did have PCM, it was only in 5.1 format.

So, with that said, I don't think I am going to miss Paramount that much.

If Paramount is/was going to release movies on BD with minimal specs ... then let them switch back to HD-DVD is what I would say.

What is your opinion?

Paramount was doing BLu-centric video and they had just started coming out with uncompressed sound

So the future output probably would have been preferred over Warner for the higher bit encodes

Post Paramount was a minor player to me

In my collection (which is now over 80 discs) I count only 5 Paramount titles.

I am pretty picky on picture and sound quality, and these are on a par with Disney and Sony:

Mission Impossible 3
The Untouchables
Shooter
Disturbia
(1 other title)

Unfortunately, most of them are not up to the sound quality of LPCM.

I was not planning on buying Shrek or Blades of Glory, but did want to get Transformers. In terms of importance to my collection, Lionsgate has more that I want.

Para-*****, you will not be missed!

Out of all the blu ray titles I have, I only have three paramount titles.

Sleep Hollow
The Italian Job
and Shooter.

Shooter is the only movie that really could show off the format. The other two are just meh. I like the movies, but they arent anything special on that format.

I agree, no PCM was a big dissapointment for me as well. Some select titles, that were mentioned above, are really nice looking, but others are a little soft or maybe the term I'm looking for is washed. At first I was pissed because I like a lot of the flicks they had slated to release, but now I'm a little more relaxed. Fox has erased Paramount from my mind today.

I disagree with all of you. Sure they didn't put out any 'great' movies, but the picture on most of them was fantastic. And Transformers would be worth everything to me since they (Paramount) announced that starting with Next, they were going to start putting HD audio on their movies.

I thought they were going to do do that with face/off.

Actually it was Blades of Glory. And some of the Paramount releases did have pretty good picture quality. However, on some, the black levels are screwy. Check out Disturbia. The blacks are more of a gray towards the last half of the movie and in the end sequence you can't even really see what's going on.
