Verdi: Il trovatore (2019) 4K UHD - Blu-ray Forum

C Major will release a recording of Verdi's Il trovatore (2019) on November 20th, 2020.

Big fan of Opera on blu but this is a pass for me...Eyvazov is one of the worst tenors i've ever heard . I can't believe they cast him in such big roles in such big opera houses.
If anybody wants a good Il Trovatore on blu ...the ROH production with Cura and Hvorostovsky remains the best

This is great news, because I feel like it's been a long while since we've seen another classical music, or especially, opera UHD. The only negative is that they don't come out day and date and/or aren't combo packs, so the prices are a bit high for the value. I do see, though that C Major's last UHD was Der Freischütz released in May 2019, that was an upgrade of a 2015 Blu-ray and appears to be the most recent classical UHD released worldwide, so clearly, these UHD releases need some supporting. Personally, I feel like I need to invest in this forthcoming one (and also its Blu-ray, already released in May 2020) to support classical on UHD.

I wonder if C Major has taken the opportunity to provide either HDR grading or 96/24 high-res lossless audio tracks on the disc. I understand that Deutsche Grammophon and EuroArts did the latter with their releases of Lohengrin (which appears to be a 100 GB disc, too) and Le nozze di Figaro (the first classical UHD), but even though C Major actually has four extant UHD releases, scans I found online of their first three discs show 48/24 lossless audio and low-ish video bitrates on discs that are far less than 50 GB in size (though their first, Die Walküre, apparently went over 60 GB).

It's disquieting to realize that in almost four years, there have only been six (!) opera releases on UHD before this one, and I believe there are only two or three more from Busch Media in Germany to make up the entire classical music genre for the format.

Anyway, right now, Il trovatore is only active on Amazon.es, but once it goes live everywhere else, I will update the original post.
