That being said, I can appreciate your age comment as an intent to call attention to the use of foul language. However at the same time you risk insulting teenagers and and instead it can cause all kinds of defense mechanisms to be raised especially among adults. People are less likely to hear the intelligence of your argument if your first comment is meant or interpreted as an insult. By the way I am 24, and I believe the person who started this web site is 16. |

IMO, you can look at it one way, HD-DVD, all it is, is DVD, with HD stuck on the front, and by comparisson has less quality. blu-ray is a new format all together, hence an actual step in quality.

The thing that is most interesting to me on this article is that if they have more HD DVD standalone players out there then why are all of those people buying more movies? Also, if they are banking on the interactivity of HDi, then why weren't there more sales on movies like 300?
It appears to me that outside of paying other studios off, the only other way for the HD DVD group hope to get more consumers is to try to mis-inform consumers over the internet like this article is trying to do. I'm beting that this writer hasn't even gone out to investigate for himself to see how each process is performed. It sounds like he is going off of hersay. I still think that as long as BDA advertising market takes off, the Disney tour should be a big help, and educate consumers Blu ray will sale. That's my $.02 anyways! ![]() |

now about the article - my main concern in reading it was the authoring bit. is bd-j really that difficult to author? enough to deter studios from supporting it? i don't think so. why would the paramount techies, against the lesser judgment of their executive branch, reportedly prefer blu-ray over hd-dvd if this was the case? And how can you spot a pro-HD post?
FIELD GUIDE: 1) "Like, it's not going to matter anyway, we'll all have holo-cubes someday!" 2) "Paramount people are smart, because they make decisions about things!" 3) "Yeah, well Sony bribes people too!" 4) "People really want to download...It's so cool! We'll get new wires for it someday, 'n everthing!" 5) "Wow, the players are so cheap! I bought one at a 7-11!" 6) "Picture-in-picture and download content...Nobody ELSE has got that!" 7) "Their Java's all messed up--That's what I heard six month's ago!" 8) "Blu-Ray people like to argue...They're just kids who play video games!" 9) (Any use of the words "Kool" and "Aid".) ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 08-24-2007 at 09:14 PM. |

I like how they bring up the PiP/interactivity features, but as i own HD-DVD i have played with all this and its pratically useless if you have a screen 40ins or smaller. The PiP window is just too dang small for one thing.
On a 40ins TV i find myself, with 20/20 vsion having to really squint to see whats going on. i had to get up and go silly close to the screen to make it worth while. Now with my projector its fine as the window then becomes a decent size but how many average joe's have a projector or even a 40ins screen?. Its a useless gimmick, that should just be on a seperate disc, or you should be able to make the widow bigger or fill the screen. i didnt seem to be able to do that. the title was tokyo drift, it also has a feature that when a car crashes it brings up a damage report with cost to repair, problem is it fills the half the screen and is gone in two seconds so you can barly read it. but whats the freaking point?. then theres the silly GPS graphic that lets you follow the cars. again pointless rubbish. and the worst crime, the u control logo stays on the screen when selected, it dosent fade out so you have to turn it on off the whole time. or else its there burnaing a hole in your plasma.... perhaps its me, but so far, interactivity is plain shit on HD-DVD. Gimmick gimmick gimmick, thats all it is. there real purpose here is to use the web based interativity for transactional purposes. that means later down the road they will stop the gimmicky stuff as it dosent make any money and put more effort into the transactional content. result is they just want your green and are currently window dressing to lure people in. should that of been in the rant thread though? |
