United Kingdom 10 To Midnight (88 Films)

'10 to Midnight' - Slasher - Charles Bronson

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/10-to...lu-ray/273767/

Has anyone had a chance to compare this U.K. release to the U.S. Shout Factory release? Any difference in quality (picture and sound) and the extras?

Maybe my favorite Chuck Bronson flick. Maybe not as iconic as the Death Wish films, but this has a very good ensemble cast (Stevens, Eilbacher) and Bronson plays a realistically flawed human being closer to the way he was in the first Death Wish. Gene Davis is a great, too... Not the typical kind of psycho you usually see in these type of films. The review on this site does a good job explaining what makes this film unique from similar films of the time.

I had this on pre-order, but decided to cancel as it doesn't appear to have the commentaries that the Shout Factory edition has. The Shout also had a very nice looking 4K transfer.

the 88 uses the same 4K transfer but I too was disappointed that they dropped the commentary with the producer's as it sounds like that one has some really good Bronson stories.

I nearly always buy UK releases because their cheaper and too support UK companys but this is one that i might have too import the Scream edition to get the commentary. 88s does have the Paul Talbot commentary and he is the man when it comes to Charlie.

I would've gone for this one but it sounds like it's barely a slasher movie.

So the 88 Films release does have one of the commentaries? Interesting. The producer's commentary was on the OOP Twilight Time release, which I own. Maybe I'll pick up the 88 Films release, then. It's funny... even though the 4K remaster looks very nice, I like the Twilight Time master, too. It's older and speccy, but it does add to the film in a weird way ; more of a grindhouse feel.

Still no movement on my pre-order from the 88 Films website. I'll just order from Amazon next time.

I guess you could say it has slasher elements, but it feels like more of a procedural drama than your typical genre flick. It becomes more of an "action" movie at the end, but even then it feels more challenging and morally ambiguous than most films of it's kind. I don't wanna say too much, but it doesn't leave you with easy answers at the conclusion.

Thanks, this wouldn't be the first time that 88 Films are stretching the definition of a slasher movie so they could include a title in this range.

I was surprised it's been marketed in the slasher collection because it's not really, but don't let that put you off, it's a fantastic serial killer film, I really enjoyed it myself!

My copy arrived from Zoom on Friday morning so i gave it a spin on my projector on Friday night. Looked pretty good, very grainy.
It's been a minute since i last watched the film & i'd forgotten just how ridiculous it is! Luckily i was pretty drunk so i enjoyed the hell out of it, the ending had me howling with laughter.

It is, but what seperates this from most of the Death Wish films, is it doesn't really hero worship Bronson's character. He's a bit of a deadbeat dad and though he means well
[Show spoiler]he arguably ends up doing more harm than good at the end. He's also probably gonna end up in prison, too.

Why not cancel and re-order. That's what I always do if an order stuck. Obviously can't do for LEs, sold out stuff or if you have used a promotional coupon.

Amazon are so annoyingly inconsistent. I received mine from them yesterday (Sunday) and I don’t even have Prime at the moment...

I had a dispatch e-mail from 88 Films about two hours ago. Hopefully it’ll be here tomorrow.

I think 88 term almost anything with a body count as a slasher. This is more of a psycho-thriller. Still, it's better than many of the straight slashers that 88 has released (Moon in Scorpio, for instance, is utter garbage).

No different to Shout and their Scream Factory titles, been a few in there i'd argue doesn't fit the genre - Robocop sequels, Escape From L.A. etc

so... all things considered the U.S. Scream Edition is the better option?
