And while we're at it, here's hoping other Universal titles currently with the collection will make their way to UHD soon...

The Last Temptation of Christ
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
The Breakfast Club
Brazil

Just to name a few...
I would spend 40 days and 40 nights in the Moroccan Sahara for a UHD of The Last Temptation of Christ.

In fairness to Criterion on this, I wonder if the big studios might actually be hoarding the 4K releases for themselves.

I mean Universal seemed to have no problem giving Shout UHD rights to They Live, Prince of Darkness and Army of Darkness.

So yeah this is definitely Criterion. That being said I'm hanging to my copy of their BD. The remastered Making "Do the Right Thing" is enough reason.

If this has the other Spike Lee commentary, this is an essential compliment to the Criterion release.

Throw in Three Brothers as an extra?

The Criterion BD is worth having for the extras alone, and while the image quality is great, it obviously can be improved by the jump to native 4K here, so I'll be keeping my Criterion BD for the extras, and the huge booklet.

I agree that’s the most likely situation, but they did add a few new things to Back to the Future at least.

Like everyone, I do wish that Criterion would start releasing UHDs of the films where they already have 4k scans. Even that would be a great start IMO. At this point, I don't even care what titles they launch onto 4k with, just get that UHD train rolling...

Having said that, I must admit that I chuckle a bit inside, every time someone else beats them to the punch, with the stuff in their library. Hopefully, all of those titles have excellent sales, and prove to Criterion that the 4k waters are completely safe to jump into.

Great news. Though I am getting tired of buying this title and it is annoying that Criterion continues to fumble the bag.

Hopefully, as others have said, it doesn't have the bad Universal color timing. It won't matter (to me) if it's 4K if it doesn't look like it should.

Glad to have an extra iTunes code for that sweet free 4K upgrade.

I feel like The Breakfast Club is obvious and inevitable. Maybe not next year, but eventually.

Here’s an idea, Universal should to a John Hughes trilogy with Sixteen Candles, weird Science and Breakfast Club. All three have a 4K scan and universal has done this in the past as The Cornetto Trilogy comes to mind.

Arrow is doing 4K now. Criterion should be good to do so too.

EDIT:
Now if Eureka goes 4K before Criterion, well... Criterion would be very behind by that point. *doesn't think Eureka has gone 4k yet*

It could happen, though I imagine they might do individual releases first.

Vinegar Syndrome went 4k before Criterion. Blue Underground went 4k before Criterion. Arrow and Shout! went 4k before Criterion.

Criterion has zero excuse.

Except for their fans, I guess. Mention 4K to them and most will act like it's unimportant and tell you they're tired of you people. Or maybe that's just people on the Blu-ray board.
