I'll just rebuy the trilogy in iTunes or get the UHD BD set when either goes on sale.
They did in fact relist FOTR though. I had the SD copy that was upgraded to HD by MA but for the last few years when looking up the film on the iTunes Store it showed a price and not a play/download option like the other 2 films. Today when I redeemed the digital code from the UHD set, it gave me a duplicate copy of FOTR (so I now have 3 - HD theatrical, 4K theatrical, 4K EE).

Thanks, but I definitely purchased the HD trilogy. I have the other 2 movies in 4k.
I was lucky enough to get the bundle for $10 during the great iTunes price mistake episode of 2013 that also included the famous Harry Potter bundle for $10, so I am not really upset about it.

Ah, OK. I thought you were talking about digital copies from the physical discs. In the early years the digital copies that came with Blu-rays were SD.

Yep. I had the extended trilogy in SD from a code, but eventually purchased the HD upgrade from iTunes, which is now 4k.

All 6 movies (extended) are now 4K for TV OS in Thailand. I feel lucky to snatch 6 movies bundle when they on sale for just 40$

The Return of the King EE still isn’t playing in 4K/DV/DA. I’m disappointed... we watched Fellowship and Towers yesterday with the plan to finish with Return today. I hope it upgrades sometime today - it can’t be long now, as it has the tags in the store.

Well within an hour or so, it was playing in 4K/DV/DA and I was able to finish the trilogy. Just wow! I am happy!

While I would agree with some of the comments being made in the 4K disc thread about DNR use and such, I am still very much happy with the quality here. Amazing. Anyone who is yet to watch these remasters or who may be on the fence about purchasing, feel confident - they are very much worth it.

So are all 12 movies upgraded and all with the full extras?

Yes, with regards to all theatrical and extended films having upgraded to 4K/DV/DA. I believe the EEs have all the extras that are on the equivalent discs, however I cannot confirm for the TEs, as I don’t have them.

Perhaps someone who does have them can confirm whether they have all the extras from the disc equivalents.

LOTR Theatricals don’t have any Extras at all.

Thinking about it, I’m sure I read somewhere that the commentaries for the Hobbit EE trilogy are missing...

Correct.

The Hobbit theatricals have all the extras from the BD releases. The EE's have all the extras from the BD releases EXCEPT the commentaries.

The LOTR theatricals have no extras whatsoever. The EE's have all the extras from the EE BD releases.

Did anyone else see that Apple TV took away the Middle earth 6 film extended collection?

Now they only offer the trilogies separately from what I can find.
