Arrow Universal Soldiers: A New Beginning

Anyone excited about this? Who thinks it will be straight to home video?

Quote:
IGN got their hands on the first look at Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren in the upcoming "Universal Soldiers: A New Beginning." Click on the link below to check it out.

The film is a sequel to the 1992 movie that revolves around Luc Deveraux (Van Damme) and Andrew Scott (Lundgren) who were killed in Vietnam and are reanimated by the army to become near-perfect soldiers.

The new movie is about a crazed Chechen nationalist, Basayev, who seizes control of Chernobyl, site of the infamous nuclear meltdown, and threatens to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his nationalist blackmail demands are met.

Luc Deveraux (Van Damme) joins a US team of revived UniSoldiers secretly held in deep storage. Their mission: retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash the radioactive clouds. Luc is surprised when he finds one of the reactivated UniSoldiers is a clone of his old Sergeant, Andrew Scott (Lundgren). But the cloned Andrew has no recollection of Luc.

As the team furiously battles its way into the Chernobyl plant, they are caught off guard. Using a mind-control chip, Baseyev turns Andrew against his own comrades. Now surrounded, wounded, and out-numbered, Luc must battle Andrew, and save the world.

"Universal Soldiers: A New Beginning" is directed by John Hyams, who is the son of Peter Hyams (Timecop). The film recently wrapped principal photography in Bulgaria. There is still no word on whether it will go straight to DVD.

The very last line of that article: "There is still no word on whether it will go straight to DVD."

Andrei Arlovski is in this? HELL YEAH!

I was bummed to read this: Lundgren has a 10 minute cameo where he fights Van Damme. Van Damme is shooting for 10-20 days so I think he will be in it for around 30-60 minutes.

And more set photos:

no your reply didn't seem nice by any means...and release dates have nothing to do with common sense.... studios can have a date or atleast a quarter where they will be releasing a movie and no decision on if it goes to DVD or to theaters.. and if i recall i was asking the op not you....

Default ok guys -- to your corners for a TIME OUT. ;-)

lol - who CARES really If/when this comes out or goes to DVD, whatever. There's no way in hell theaters will put a Van Damme-Awful actor & Dolph "Drago" Lundgren movie on their schedule. I'll bet my next 4 paychecks this is Straight to DVD, or LIMITED release in a Tiny Handful of theaters AT BEST. Just my opinion.

Ok guys, now -- ready for round 3? & Remember, No low blows...

Whether it is theater or blu or DVD, I will watch it. I grew up with these two actors in the 80s. Back then it was Sly, Arnold, Dolph, and Jackie.

Jackie, really? I never even saw a movie of his till after 2000, lol. He definitely wasn't a staple of 80s action like the others listed.

A third one? I hope it's better than the first one because that one was great back in the day. Can't wait to see this one.
