Rank the 'Alien' Quadrilogy (1979-1997)

My list:

1- Alien Resurrection - brilliant and bleak masterpiece, with solid and overwhelming sci-fi concepts like hybrids and complex relationship between different species. RIPLEY 8 is one of the most genius and groundbreaking characters ever committed on screen. 10/10.

2- Aliens - Cameron at his best. Iconic, classic, action-packed. Beautiful. Weaver was perfect. I would dare to say that this movie was a memorable lesson in film-making and influenced all other sci-fi/action movies which followed it.

3- Alien - the one which started it all. One of the most frightening horror movies in history for sure, because at its core it's an horror movie. Wonderful.

4- Alien 3 - best direction of the whole saga, interesting and fascinating, but the least of the bunch. It's still a great movie, very underrated and overlooked.


Both the prequels are superb, but they don't fit with the original saga that much, they feel too different.

I won't watch Alien Resurrection again. Maybe if I were paid. Depends on how much.

Basically order of their release. Alien a masterpiece of cinema, has such a sense of bleakness and isolation. Aliens good action with a well told story. Alien 3 thought this film gave a proper send off for Ripley. Plus the prison planet atmosphere is interesting. Alien Resurrection is poor in comparison to the first three. Has good set design, but bad execution. Resurrection is the only one not in my collection. All that said am glad that others enjoy it.

Are there other Alien movies than these that matter? I know of no such things.

Its just an opinion and my rankings only include the first two of the quadrilogy since thats all I care about. Relax. Why are you and others including the prequels when they arent part of the discussion of thread? Seems like a basic shit-post.

The first 2 are fairly interchangeable for me, although Aliens has the more re-watch factor, hence the #1 rank. But I don't necessarily think it's any better than Alien. I might even say the first is the better film, but the second is more fun to watch.
