Every Mission: Impossible film has at least one heist, so they could all added.

Nice thread! I love heist movies.

One I didn't see mentioned was Widows (2018)

Also Logan Lucky (2017) (one of my recent favs)

Another is the noir Criss Cross (1949). Not sure if it's defined as a heist film, but it does center around one. It just has more going on for it than that.

My favorite sub genre of films! Would Toy Story 3 qualify as a heist film of sorts? I know it's more of a prison escape film but I think it could qualify as both.

The 5th Fast and Furious movie (the first one with the Rock) is 100% a heist film too.

Was going to mention the rarely seen Paul Newman film 'Where the Money Is' but even that is on the list. Great job!

Two thoughts.

1. This is a great idea for a thread. Heist films are one of my favorite genres.

2. Your definition of "heist film" is much broader than mine.

Mine too, I have an entire collection comprised entirely of heist films and it is one of my favorite collections. That being said, the definition of heist film for this thread is definitely more broad than what I would consider to be a heist film personally.

The definition of what is a true heist film is kind of vague, does it only apply to films where the heist is the central plot or can it include films with a heist sub-plot? For that reason I decided it would be better to list both heist films and films with heist elements.

For me, a heist film is only a heist film if the central plot revolves around it. There are plenty of films that includes an element of a heist, but they don't really seem like heist films to me. You could also split them into two categories like you've identified; it would be easier to keep the two groups straight that way. But it's your thread, so it's obviously your call.

How about including the UK release of Payback instead of the US release?

Not only does it include both cuts, but the video quality is much better.

True, but that release doesn't have all of these extras.
