Default Warner Bro. ally or foe?

I am wondering if WB is actually on our side? They have release a loy of films on Blu, but we still don't see some of the ones that are out on HDDVD; Charley and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins ect. What are they waithing for? Will they be turning Blu exclusive this fall or are they the one studio that is trying to stake claim in being the one that killed off the big Blu monster!

Warner Bros is a member of Board of Director of BDA, and is ONLY a general member of HD DVD consortium

I'd say with nickerson gone (HD DVD backer), we can look WB as ally (they also give direct comparison between the formats - in which BD always has higher sell number).
Time will tell. I can't guarantee my own words. They might also be a foe.

They have been waiting so they can port all the features, including PiP over to Blu

Batman Begins is coming before the end of the year

Well that was the official line. We all know that Nickerson was a bigger sticking point than BD-J ever was.

We're better allied to them than Stalin was with Churchill.

Also don't forget:
some titles like The Polar Express and Troy, will be released in BD, which means HD DVD is losing its exclusive titles one by one, slowly but surely

Ally, Warner won't ditch Blu-ray. They would have seen the fallout after the Paramount decision, and had feedback, These are not stupid people, and know which format is making them money.

Indeed, though I have a major feeling that the real deal was that they agreed to keep 25 titles on a 1 year exclusive (it CANNOT be a conincidence that exactly 25 HDs have yet to show on blu,and they're all good titles)

Many of the forum insiders have said it, among other places.

BD Java is ready - players with a second hardware video decoder aren't ready.

It would be in Warner's best interest to release Batman Begins and The Matrix trilogy this holiday season. Every Blu-ray supporter wants Batman Begins as a stocking stuffer.

Any "neutral" studio that allows its consumers to choose which format is preferred is, as far as I'm concerned, in the Blu-ray/Consumer alliance. If Warner gets to the point where only 1/4 or so of its sales are on Blu-ray, then the consumers would have "voted" for HD-DVD and Warners would be justified in dropping Blu-ray. So please treat them as in our "alliance" and continue to buy their Blu-ray products. Hopefully they'll begin to follow normal business processes and decide to produce more of their output on Blu-ray.

Microsoft is only a general member of the HD DVD promotions group also. I wouldn't put too much stock in this.

Well, since all the Warner stuff is 480p, it's very possible that most current players CAN handle it.

For example, I'll bet dollars to donuts that the Pioneer Elites can, the PS3 can, and likely the Panasonics as well. Maybe they can't handle 1080p PiP, but 480 should be no problem at all.

The number of titles with 1080 PiP of anything actually useful will be amazingly small, both because of costs, and because virtually no one is going to have the non-movie box at fullscreen.

Maybe there's something I'm missing on the tech end, but we really should just be talking raw horses. As I understand it that's how HD DVD does it, they just stuck way more CPU power in there than they could possibly need and get around the HDi issues and PiP that way.

Warner is/was waiting for Profile 1.1, and specifically the PiP feature.

BD Java (BD-J) is in every player now. Although the particular BD-J extensions to support Profile 1.1 may or may not be.
