Default ALONE (2020)—John Hyams Thriller

So am I the only one who bought this (in my case, blind, based off a shockingly high Rotten Tomatoes score) new release? Because at an $11.99 pittance at Best Buy, it seemed about as safe a risk as they come.

I found it pretty boring. It's basically a girl being chased the entire movie, and absolutely nothing happens that you wouldn't expect. Aside from some gorgeous locations and outdoor scenery, this is the type of thriller you would find on Lifetime.

I rented it through Netflix. I thought it was just okay.

Thanks for pointing out the low price; just grabbed a copy. I already rented this on Vudu when it first came out and loved it. Hyams is one of my favorite modern filmmakers and IMO this is his maybe his best film to date.

Is this still available on Netflix? I ordered a copy from Amazon because it was cheap but if people are saying it's boring I would like to test the waters first.

Hellhound said he “rented” it through Netflix, which leads me to believe he paid a fee to view it. I’ve never known ALONE to be offered on that streaming service as just part of its standard subscription.

This was OK. Suffered from the typical "too many stupid decisions" problem but it was still a solid thriller. Good performances. Someone above complained that they found it dull - I seriously don't understand people sometimes.

Her first mistake was trying to road-rage her way past a weird-looking guy in an old Jeep Cherokee (that's what it looked like, anyway), especially on a narrow, winding road. Try it with a dude as a companion/passenger but not alone while hauling a U-Haul trailer. That's what got the whole thing started. Avoid, avoid, avoid

This movie reminds me a lot of the recent ABC TV series Big Sky. They're extremely similar.

Actually, I still have the DVD.com version of Netflix which sends you discs in the mail and I got the DVD of it sent to me through that.
