Arrow Unstoppable Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

I would be all for this. The Scott/Washington team has been amazing so far.

Quote:
Denzel Washington is negotiating to star in drama "Unstoppable," the Tony Scott-directed that 20th Century Fox has on track for a fall production start.

Washington would play an experienced engineer who jumps in a locomotive with a young conductor to chase down a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. Mark Bomback wrote the script, which is loosely inspired by a true event.

Julie Yorn is producing "Unstoppable" with Scott.

The drama would reunite Washington and Scott for their fifth film together. Aside from "Crimson Tide," "Man on Fire" and "Deja Vu," the duo just completed another train-based thriller, "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3," which Columbia Pictures releases June 12.

Washington has been filming "The Book of Eli" for Alcon Entertainment and Silver Pictures, with Allen and Albert Hughes directing the post-apocalyptic thriller that Warner Bros. releases in early 2010.

Wasn't there a tv movie of the week just like this with Esai Morales a few years back? I think it was possibly called 'Terror Train'

Otherwise I always love Denzel's movies and Denzel and Scott I am very much down for again. I love my Man on Fire and Deja Vu blu's!

I love Denzel, he's one of the best out there, but I'm almost getting tired of seeing these actors in sooo many movies lately. It's almost diluting their careers.

I don't think I can take another Samuel L Jackson or Nicholas Cage or Robert DeNiro movie. I'll watch Denzel anyday, but damn, this is a lot. At least he's working with Tony Scott again, we all know those movies kick ass

I would watch another De Niro movie if it was ACTUALLY a De Niro movie, and no I don't mean another god damned Fockers movie, NO MORE COMEDIES! I miss old De Niro the guy who had an edge and was actually enjoyable. He has made pure garbage for over a decade now, and he needs to get back to his roots.

I don't see how Tony Scott and Denzel could make something good out of that.

I take it back Hollywood, please go back to the sequels and retelling of recent movies.

LOL I have to agree. That movie with him and Pacino was horrible. And I'm not talking about Heat. I'm talking about Righteous Kill.

Tony has Denzel, Ridley has Russel. Two working relationships that seemingly never disappoint on screen...

Now they just all need to collaborate on a film...

Default Trailer

Quote:
/Film reader Eddie R has sent us a link to the previously unreleased movie trailer for Tony Scott’s upcoming action drama Unstoppable. I’ve been wondering with 20th Century Fox would start promoting this film as it is scheduled to hit theaters in just three months, and no publicity materials had yet been released (not a poster or even a photo). The trailer makes the film look pretty intense, although I’ve heard that it is more of a drama than a thriller.

The film stars Chris Pine, Denzel Washington, and Rosario Dawson in a story scripted by Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Deception, Race to Witch Mountain) loosely inspired by true events. The film tells the story of an experienced engineer (Washington) who finds himself teaming up with a young conductor (Pine) in a race against time, with a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. The duo chase the runaway train in a separate locomotive and need to bring it under control before it derails on a curve and causes a toxic spill that could decimate a town.

Someone on IMDb claims to have seen a test screening of the movie last month. Here are some excerpted quotes:

“I must say, the movie was fantastic except for the ending, it seemed a bit sappy and not at all following the general feel and pace of the movie. The footage was spectacular, the majority of it being free movement, but I have vertigo so it made me a feel a little queasy at times. One element of the unfinished CGI had the crowd in a roaring laughter. he acting was great, but this is just coming from a normal movie goer so I cant give you a critical analysis. As for the camera movement, yes, it was in that style.”

Previously:

The project has gone under two previous titles: Runaway Train and 8888, named after the CSX locomotive model number, often referred to as “Crazy Eights” because of two separate incidents in Ohio, one a derailment, the other a runaway train the film is loosely based on.

A runaway freight train traveled 70 miles with no one at the controls for nearly two hours before rail workers were able to slow it down by latching a second engine to the end of the train and applying the brakes. While two of the train’s tank cars contained thousands of gallons of the hazardous material molten phenol acid, the runaway train itself was considered more of a threat than the chemicals on board.

Unstoppable hits theaters on November 12th 2010.

Trailer looks interesting enough (shows a bit too much IMO).. Denzel was drab in the Taking of Pelham 123 (Travolta did his best to save the movie and at least keep it entertaining) but hopefully he'll be better in this. Chris Pine was fantastic in Star Trek so I'm eager to see him in something new.

I'm happy to finally see that they released the trailer for this movie, they should have done so back in June at the latest. The trailer is pretty good and I look forward to see this movie.

---- Mr. Movie man (one of a few here, but I digress ) hasn't heard of This movie? Well, I guess you actually have a Real life outside of Bluray.com now don't you.

Seriously though, this Does "look" very good, but as someone noted, it does show a Lot in the 2 1/2 min. trailer. Great casting Chris Pine with Denzel, they look like they have good on-screen chemistry, & some nice supporting actors that are not unknowns (which helps IMO). Great Director in Tony Scott. Does he just call Denzel FIRST every time a new script comes across his desk or what? Not that that's a Bad thing.

Anyway, off that 1st trailer, this looks like it could deliver the goods.

This opens Friday, anyone going to see it?

I'm going to check it out probably Tuesday.

I don't really remember anything from the trailer back when it came out, so I'll be mostly fresh when I get in the theater
