It was working with 2.4 and I just downloaded the newest update which is the rereleased 2.5 and now when the movie starts I get no picture just sound but just for the movie it works for previews and menus anyone else experiencing similar issues...I should have stayed with 2.4 but people said 2.5 was working flawless now...and the funny thing is before it was updated for anyone who has the movie the weather and time gadgets weren't displaying including the LG live selection now they display but now the movie won't work...I'm even getting freeze ups sometimes when loading the movie at the movie load menu...it's this movie too because others work fine so it's not the player...good job Samsung dropping the ball on this one...

Thanks good thing it does work in my PS3 though, it just sucks that this disc problem obviously has to do with the over saturation of java script that the production company decided to encode on the disc to have completely useless features, and it also sucks it worked perfectly with 2.4 although acted like the disc wasn't java enabled by not letting any of the features display... By the way has anyone tried shutting all those features off in tge LG live menu to see if the movie would play...

I always wonder....why people buy standalones?
then post this blu-ray doesnt work..need update...doesnt work after update. why didnt u just get a ps3? They dont have that problem and you probably paid more for something you have to constantly update to play movies...... |

I have a ps3 and this player is in my bed room and the reason it was purchased was the netflix feature and HQV chip was appealing...and I do agree there's nothing better than the ps3 and am very well aware about firmware and dos issues with SAL's that was the sole reason i bought it on day 1 as a blu-ray player its still awesome because as a game console it sucks at least that's my opinion...

I just got a DMP-BD60 a few days ago, & I have to say it kicks azz! I've had the Panny 10K, 30, 35, 55 & now the 60. It's small & light & plenty fast, even though its not rated so.

Well I got some good news and bad news for every one...I figured out what the problem is and it has to do with the spirit disc update I tried it in my ps3 with the same issue so I knew it had to be the update because it worked in the ps3 so all I did was erase the file and when prompted to update pick no and guess what the movie worlds fine...so it has nothing to do with Samsung...

1. Panasonic DMP-BD60,DMP-BD80
2. LG BD370,BD390 Pioneer's and Oppo's upcoming players are also an overall better BD players than the PS3, but i'm going according to what other's testing the units have said in regards to that upcoming players. Imo all four of those new to the market standalone BD players are superior to he PS3 in all areas of Bluray disc playback/option support.Ultimately the PS3 is a gaming console. It was the most feature complete Bluray player for the first few generations of BD players available, but that's no longer the case.Standalones have surpassed it in quality and pricing superiority. Not to say the PS3 is a shabby BD player, it's not. It's simply no longer the best. Panasonic suck in Canada the price of the BD35 was 299$ most of it's life. The BD60 is 450$ LOL yeah sure! and the 80 is 550$. The new samsung is 299$ and the new sony will be 299-325$CAD so i think Panasonic will need to lower it's price if they want to sell (in Canada)

First let me say that almost every review I've read continues to say the PS3 is still better for the money. Secondly I've never had disc inconpatabilities with the PS3...it's always worked flawlessly and when you're talking about all those features tfat they add like Netflix and Amazon, etc. That doesn't make a good blu ray player those are gimmicks to sell the players and I'm sure the ps3 will get some sort of streaming service soon enough if that's what's important to you when defining a good player it already has a rental service...and honestly it's the only player that continues to improve upon it's blu pq and DVD pq...so much so that home theater magazine felt they needed to rereview it which by the way still got an almost flawless review...a sal will never compare to a ps3 when the ps3 has a 3.2 ghz processor and anywhere between 40 and 120 gb of space the possibilities are endless unlike with sal players which continue to become outdated every 8-12 months. Take this from some one whose owned a few sal's, a few hddvd players, and a ps3 from day 1 it's still the best and will be for the unforeseeable future...

I had the same problem with the Samsung 1500 with having sound but no picture for the movie. After messing around with it I found the problem happens when you first put the Spirit disk in it say there is an update for the disk and recommends installing it. After installing it the update adds the local temperature and time on the menu screen and this is when the problem occurs. To unistall it you will having reformat the BD-Live memory to clear it out. Then say no when it asks you to install the update and you will be able to see and hear the movie.
