Italy Rome, Italy - Recommended Blu-ray retailers.

I'll be traveling to Italy in May and will be spending several days in Rome. I'm wondering if any members know of and can recommend some Blu-ray retailers in that area. I know they have 'Blockbuster' stores there, any others? Thanks!

See if you can find Casshern on Blu-Ray. It doesn't have English subs but I'm sure it'd be awesome in HD.

There are 2 GREAT music & DVD stores right on the Via del Corso in Rome... Ricordi Media and another whose name I can't remember.... I think they're just north of the Via Condotti which leads to the Spanish Steps. And they're within 2-3 blocks of each other. If you're into Region-2 stuff, you'll go nuts.

We're in a tour, it takes us to Alberobello on the east coast, then down to Crotone (south coast), over to Sicily, then an overnight ferry to Naples then back to Rome. Awesome! I'm totally looking forward to this vacation!

Thanks! I was hoping to get a couple of blu-ray steelbooks there and maybe some other stuff.

It looks like La Feltrinelli has taken over one of the bigger media stores. La Feltrinelli is also a great store that you can find in 2 very easy locations: at the Galeria Alberto Sordi, which is right on Piazza San Silvestro (near the Parliament building, on the Via del Corso, just about 10 blocks south of those other stores I mentioned) and Feltrinelli also has a HUGE store right across the street from the Largo Argentina, the cat sanctuary. Have fun!

I would recommend Mondadori Multicenter, you will find all 3 three steelbook there. There are at least 2 stores in Rome,

1, Fontana di Trevi, Via di San Vincenzo, 10 (Tel.06.697650.1)
2, Via del Corso, 472 (Tel. 06.684401)

I'll second these recommendations. I just returned today from a Europe trip in which I spent one day in Florence. I picked up Gomorra and Piano 17 on BD at the Ricordi store there, which is nowhere near the size of the Alberto Sordi store in Rome. Have a great trip!

Yes! Mondadori -- that's the other store on the Corso, just a couple short blocks from Ricordi Media.

I'm jealous of your trip... it's my fave city.

Thanks for all of the help and recommendations you guys! I really appreciate it! I've printed out a list of the stores that you have endorsed, and a couple more closest to our hotel. Later today, I will enter them in my portable GPS device to assist us in locating. Thanks again.

I've always joked that one couldn't walk more than a few blocks in Rome without tripping over a Feltrinelli store! Have a great trip!

Suggest you to pick up a copy of “A fistful of dollars", you won't be dispointed for the great transfer and a fistful of extra

Thanks guys, I did have an awesome trip! I got to see the Roman Coloseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Vatican Musuems, St Peter's Basilica (spectacular!) and in Sicily we visited the greek amphitheatre in Toarmina (WOW! what a view), Valley of Temples in Agrigento and Palermo! Italy is a fantastic country to visit. We felt overwhelmed at the wealth of history and exhausted ourselves by trying to see all of the great ancient attractions. Its like I had to have another vacation to recover from this vacation, know what I mean? Definitely will try and go back!

As for the blus, I managed to go to a couple of Feltrinelli stores, one in Palermo the other in Rome but struck out. However, I did make it into a Mondadori store (did I get that right?) near the Spanish Steps. I think its one of the stores lolototo mentioned in a previous post. The blu-rays I picked up were The Interpreter Steelbook and Memoirs of a Geisha Steelbook. I couldn't find A Fistful of Dollars .

Glad your trip went well (every time I go to Italy I love it more and more)! As for Feltrinelli, did you go to a Feltrenelli store or a Recordi Media store (the dedicated A/V media store of Feltrenelli)? Unless you go to a RM store, the pickings can be slim. In fact, the stores can't even seem to connect with each other. I was told in a Feltrinelli in April that the Gommorra BD and Il Divo SD DVD were discontinued, only to find them in the RM store across the Piazza! (The 2-disc Il Divo, in fact!) Something to remember for next time....

I believe both were Feltrinelli stores. I went to the one in Palermo (between loads at a local laundrymat, hotels charge way too much for laundry) and it had 3 floors of books, DVDs, CDs, video games, I think it even had children's toys and blu-rays but the section was small. The one in Rome had a similiar selection so I guess it wasn't the Recordi Media store you mentioned.
