Movies now including FW upgrades?? - Blu-ray Forum

So I pop Lakeview Terrace into my PS3 and it informs me that I need to update to the latest FW. I was running 2.30 and required 2.42. But the amazing thing is that the movie disc included the FW upgrade. I know its a Sony film but I have 300+ movies and have rented many more and this is the first time I have came across this.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but its kinda genius by Sony and I am assuming they only carry the FW for their hardware.

Sony has done this on a few movies. I think they are the only studio to do this so far.

Cool. Maybe its because they are both a CE company and a movie company but its very cool.

Sony did that with their PSP and certain games for people that didn't have access to upgrading. It's a novel approach, but it will be hard to do for all other makes and models. So, I guess it's a great thing to own a PS3 for blu purposes.

yea I thought that too, but the website here said v2.6 and I didnt see it on the page....Oh well

Yeah, the sight info on firmware is some times behind. There are TONS of players out there now you know. My new panny BD60 just had an update from
1.0 to 1.5 , but it does not reflect that in the info about the player yet.
