Talking Olyphant to Star in FX's 'Fire in the Hole'

This sounds like an interesting show and with Sons of Anarchy, Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me, FX is pretty much my favorite network as is and this might just strengthen that. I really liked Olyphant on Deadwood and this sounds like a little bit like Bullock in the modern day. What does everybody else think?

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Timothy Olyphant (Hitman, Live Free or Die Hard, "Deadwood") has been set to play the lead in FX's drama pilot based on Elmore Leonard's short story "Fire in the Hole," says The Hollywood Reporter.

The untitled project, from Sony TV, Timberman/Beverly Productions and creator/executive producer Graham Yost, centers on U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Olyphant) who returns to his hometown in Kentucky.

"He has a certain jaggedness, but he also loves his job," Yost said. "He is like an anachronism: He wears a hat, cowboy boots and a holster on his hip. It's a little bit like he was born 100 years too late."

The pilot, to be directed by Michael Dinner, starts production at the end of May

FX has a good record and the show has an interesting concept. I'd give it a shot.

I like Olyphant and I loved Deadwood. Frankly though, this sure sounds like it could go either way. Fingers crossed for greatness.

I thought Olyphant did a great job in Damages and obviously FX thought so to since the network is giving him his own show. The only FX show I never got into was "Dirt". I'm in for this one.

Agreed. It does sound kind of questionable, but I'm also willing to give anything Olyphant does a whirl. He's got some talent.

Out of the shows I've tried that's the one I didn't like also.

The Riches was good but not great. Still sad to see it go.

I have given every FX show a chance and almost all I have loved, I really miss the Shield but if that hadn't ended than Sutter wouldn't have made Sons of Anarchy so for me that was a definitely a good time to end The Shield. The only FX show I've never been able to get into is Damages. Not sure what it is, I just can't stand the show, maybe it's cause Glenn Close scares me.

Eddie and Minnie with southern accents. And the children were awesome characters. Pissed that that one was canned.

I was surprised at how old the daughter is. She looks the age she plays. Everyone was good and it was way more original than most shows.

WyldeMan. I forget about Damages. Couldn't get into it either.

What? You only watch ONE TV show per year?

You are wrong, but your analogy is funny as hell. How many episodes did you give it? It became really intense.

Almost the whole first season, just kept waiting and waiting for it to show it's true FX colors, but to be honest I was nearly comatose the entire time and felt like I was watching CBS. Oh god, did somebody trick me into watching CBS! You killed my brain! You bastards!

That might be the strangest thing I've ever heard in tv land, besides that American still loves Bob Saget.........
