USA Energy 5.1 Setup ? Suggestions On Upgrade?

hi

im a recent hookup of the ONKYO 606, and the ENERGY 5.1 SPEAKERS. i've been looking at upgrading the center channel, and maybe adding a pair of towers. depending on the rating you would give and my budget of MAX 200-300 for a Center Channel, and 400 max for the towers.

I'd be looking for paradigm, energy, or B and W.

any suggestions? or similar setups? im pumping a 50" Panasonic Plasma, running with the PS3 blu ray player which looks remarkable.

i live at home, in a smaller room. so for a smaller room - i'd like to have the clearest, loudest sound possible. give me any suggestions

400 max for the towers rules out Paradigm and B&W as far as I know. Possibly for the center as well.

Budgets are tough. I'd recommend to really go out and listen to those three brands and see if you feel it's worth stretching your dollar. I know that I had a pretty hard ceiling when I first bought my Polk towers, and I wasn't even looking when I stumbled on my current setup, so there wasn't a true budget so much as being "budget-conscious".

Energy is a good brand. What is your current setup with them? Model #'s? Right now in your gallery there's only screenshots.

Why are you looking at towers?

Paradigm Atoms are bookshelves and will be a huge upgrade over the Energy. They can be had for $250-$300/pair.

Atom Review

Add to that a CC190 and you have a great sounding system for under your budget.

In the price range perhaps the Atoms would be better, but the Reference Connosuiers have been known to outclass the Monitor series some would argue.

Energy C-300 Towers.
Would be nice to know what speakers you are trying to replace too.

If you could stretch the budget a little, these towers would be fantastic

Energy RC-30

and match it with either of these centers. The smaller one if you don't have the space.

RC-Mini Center
or
RC-LCR Center

There are also a couple of RC-LCR centers for sale on ebay, so you could save money that way as well. Or if you don't mind the center being a different color, the Cherry one at Vanns is just $349.99

Let us know what you decide. It's always nice to see someone else interested in Energy speakers.

Wow, that is the best prices by far I've seen on RC-LCR's.. Oh I wish I had the money to buy a Rosenut to match my RC-30 towers..

I couldn't agree more on this suggestion. I recently upgraded my RC-10's to the RC-LCR's (see my gallery pics) and they improved my audio quality dramatically. The addition of the mid-range really made a difference. They're a great fit for a small room (as you can see). You won't be disappointed.

Eventually, you can add the RC-R surrounds for a nice, timbre-matched setup that sounds fantastic. I've seen them as cheap as $200 each on eBay.

Op's. i would be referring to this picture. I realize space is an issue for you but you should try and rearrange this configuration
