Default Marvel Sale?

Anyone think the Marvel movies will have a good sale (beyond the occasional $9.99 price drop)?

I keep wanting to add them to my digital collection, especially after they finally upgraded to 4K, but keep holding off in case there’s a sale where they dip to $7.99 (or, the true dream which will likely never happen but if they hit the $4.99 price point).

Or do we think that because it’s Marvel, Disney will be hesitant to allow a true sale to happen?

Just visit our digital trading forum and grab them for cheap instead of waiting for price drops.

IMO, the brand hasn't been under Disney long enough to warrant a $4.99 price point. We'll see that equivalent in bundles before we see it in individual titles. Related, keep in mind some Marvel branded titles like Iron Man, Thor and Cap'n America were distributed by Paramount (and NOT Movies Anywhere eligible, like they are now since Disney bought them). One could argue that perhaps those same titles are more valuable today then they were upon release. I've seen some Disney titles at the $7.99 price, haven't seen any lower than that. Give it time.

They hit $4.99 occasionally. I can't remember if any of their animated films have, but all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were recently $4.99, that's definitely a big Disney property on the live-action side.
Several of the Touchstone/Buena Vista movies have been $4.99 too.

It's not common, but it happens.
Might be a while for the Marvel films though...

You're right of course regarding the POTC films, I was speaking strictly about the Marvel titles since that's what your original inquiry involved.

Just about every Marvel film can be bought for around $3 to $5 in our digital trade forum. You only need to buy HD codes to redeem at redeemdigitalmovie. It will give you an iTunes option that will redeem 4K and port out to MoviesAnywhere and VUDU in 4K.

I think I spent a total of about $65 to upgrade all 23 MCU films to 4K after getting money back from selling the GooglePlay portion of the codes for about $2.00 each over on Reddit at r/DigitalCodeSELL.

+1. Exactly what I advised. Plenty of bargains at our own classifieds.

I’m always surprised by the lack of awareness about our own digital trade threads. It has literally saved me a couple thousand dollars since this whole pandemic started and it also helps members selling recoup part of the cost of their physical purchases. It’s a win/win for all of us.

Yep. Which is why we need these physical releases with the digital code.

Wow, I feel like a fool for not knowing about the digital classifieds. Already bought a few bargains there. Thank you so much for the tip!

It'll take a while but they'll eventually come down to $4.99 (the older ones first). Since they've only recently gone 4K it's not likely to be anytime soon.

I won't pay more than $4.99 cos I've previously purchased a lot of them. Same with Pixar. But I can justify $4.99 for 4K and cloud hosting (and the potential for 8K upgrades in future).
