This looks good but would someone like me enjoy it if I didn’t play the first game? I did play Diablo 3 for a bit but never could get into it? Is this a separate story?

Diablo II is very much a separate and different story than Diablo III; it was a hugely popular game in its time and it still has a devoted following today as many people continue playing it even now despite its very outdated graphics. It is not necessary to have played Diablo I to enjoy Diablo II.

I enjoyed all three Diablo games, but Diablo II remains my favorite by far; I felt it had the best story and the most varied ways to play it. I have no way of knowing whether or not you would like it, but it is a very different game than Diablo III.

I played Diablo II so much back in the day I burnt another hole in the disk. I'll have to see how the controls transfer over the PS4/PS5. It could be really good or really bad.

I played Diablo 1 back and college and Diablo 3 on PS4 and had a great time with both. Missed the second game (didn’t have a PC to play it on when it came out and just never got around to it) so I’ll likely grab this since I’m guessing D4 is a ways off since this is coming out.

I'm going to compile a list of features, mechanics and what-not for everyone to read in the future to answer some questions that users might have. I'll add/edit this list as more information becomes available.

CONFIRMED RETURNING/NEW FEATURES:

- 8 Player Online Lobbies

- Grid based Inventory

- Account Shared Inventory Stash

- Diablo 2 Resurrected (2021) is running on Diablo 2's (2000) original code

- Stat/Point Allocation

- Runes/Runeword Items

- Option to toggle new 3D render to old 2D Sprite graphics

- New Re-rendered Cutscenes

- Remastered Original Audio and OST

- Player to Player Inventory Trading (For Better or Worse)

- Option to Toggle "Hostile" for PVP

- New Option to Toggle "Normal", "Nightmare" and "Hell" Mode that will let players play previously cleared difficulty modes.

- Option to "click" to pick up Gold or simply auto pick-up like in Diablo 3. (This option, and understandably so, might not be available on consoles)

- Equipping Individual Items will now appear on your character, where as in Diablo 2 (2000) it would give you a generalized "look" depending on the item level of chest piece armor equipped

- Ability to Play Online/Offline

- Ladder Characters/Mode (but the ladder mode length was not set in stone yet, all they said is that it won't be 6 months anymore)

- Characters will no longer expire

- Loot drop will be unassigned and available to all players in the game session/lobby like the original Diablo 2 (2000) (this was something I was hoping they would change, as the loot system in D2 created a melting pot of dishonesty, trolling, volatility and grief amongst the community in the original. I don't agree with the decision of maintaining unassigned loot again AT ALL)

Game is in Alpha phase 1 this weekend, local play only, but we should be getting some information here shortly on randomization and progression. Closed Alpha allows play until the end of Act II with the death of Duriel.

Enjoying the game a lot, lots of nostalgia, though the boss right before Act 3 was such a pain to defeat. Probably died 20+ times trying to bring him down as a Necromancer.

Duriel is easy if you know the tricks IE freeze him or use PLD Hammers. Wait until you move from Normal to Nightmare to Hell.

You should be about level 25 for him and 30 for Mephisto and at least 32-33 for Diablo
