Odd choice for over world art style but I don’t hate it. They say recreates the original Diamond and Peal stories...so when is the Platinum remake coming?

I’ll need to see what the version exclusives are before I decide which to play.

Absolutely hate it :/

It has absolutely no soul at all.

It's just dead and lifeless.

It's like they have tried to copy the clay-chibi style of Links Awakening but it's a complete miss.

I have more confidence in the Gamefreak produced Legends that is due next year.

I'm not sure how to feel. I like the style and prefer it to whatever the mess that SWSH are.

Shining Pearl will be mine. Still need to finish the DLC for Sword. Seems like i have till the end of the year, more than enough time.

I can't wait, loved Pearl, last Pokemon game before Sheild that I brought and enjoyed. I did like the pokedex and stories so will be a pre order from me.

Yep, full price. Pre-orders are live.

Sword and Shield went on sale quickly though so I’ll probably wait for the same to happen here especially if something like Horizon 2 drops around the same time as I expect will happen.

Or worst case I can grab it for $49.94 at Walmart.

Overall, I like the style. I think they could tweak the character's walking animations and the proportions a bit, but not a big deal. I'm really curious what they're going to do about the:
  • Pokétch
  • GTS / Global Terminal
  • Veilstone Game Corner
  • Great Marsh
  • Distortion World
  • Battle Tower / Battle Frontier
  • Event only areas

I played one of DPP but for some reason it took me about 60 hours to beat and then I couldn't even get the Giratina back out that I wanted lol. Looking forward to having a strong generation 9 game, hoping they update it a decent amount for the Switch.

I feel like adding in these sketch lines make the chibi style look a little better, almost cell shaded look to it.

That looks a gazillion kajillion zapillion squaxillion times better than the cheap and nasty looking abomination that they revealed.

Gameplay matters more than the aesthetics of the game itself.

The gameplay doesn't look bad to me. They tried something new and we'll see how it is at the end of the year. All I've ever wanted was for GF to try something new and change it up a bit.

A fan put together a trailer of their vision for a DP remake.

This is more or less how I imagined the Gen IV remakes to be. What a travesty.

I would have taken Let's Go games any way of the week to the garbage that they're actually giving us.

Even the black outline mock-ups above make the crappy art style look a million times better.

I would have been even more disappointed if they hadn't announced Legends: Arceus immediately after.

The only thing I am looking forward to in the Gen IV remakes now is the prospect of events. I'm hoping that previous event Pokémon will be catchable by default (similar to how Deoxys was "demoted" to regular legendary status in OR/AS), or at least if the old events are reinstated (especially the planned Hall of Origin event for Arceus that was ultimately shelved).

And I really hope Manaphy is obtainable in the game without an event as well (though I wouldn't put it past Nintendo/TPCi to pull another Pokéball Plus like stunt for Manaphy).
