I can understand iPod connectivity, although it was a feature that I thought I would want but have never used. But I just can't understand iPhone connectivity.

I guess if you don't have any devices in your home that will stream from your PC than it would be an option. But between the PS3, Tivo, X360, etc, something will allow streaming which will pass through your receiver.

And who the heck wants their phone connected to a receiver and have to manipulate it every time you get a call or a text? And, especially an iPhone, I liek to sit on the couch and browse and play games while I listen to music.

This will be a good receiver despite the iPhone connectivity, but it is not a good receiver BECAUSE of it.

Nope! All of my music files are in the itunes format which neither the PS3 or the 360 can stream (and that's no DRM!). Since I also can't plug my iPhone into my 360 OR PS3 to do anything other than charge, this is a godsend!

The 1018 was a fully loaded non-Elite A/V. I have been waiting and waiting for my PS3's to sync with my iPhones...and waiting.....

I also have my music files in the ALAC format and can stream mine just fine. I use TVersity as my media server on my computer and added the DMPSource add-in.

Do a Google search on 'playing ALAC files on the PS3' and you will find the exact process. I did it about 6 months or so ago, so I don't remember the exact process.

If you are having trouble, PM me and I will see if I can find the site I used. It may be bookmarked on my other computer.

I believe Pioneer is just trying to capitalize on the massive popularity of the iPhone in some form or fashion.
