My vote goes for The Mist. Fantastic miserable ending. That and Alien 3 Extended Cut. Ripley's sacrifice at the end (without the chestburster) is so much better than the lame corny theatrical ending.

I thought it made a lot of sense. After saving half the life in the universe Steve just wanted a life that was simple and beautiful.

So many of theses superhero movies focus on huge epic stories. I like it when they focus on something personal and intimate.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire
It was an okay movie, but I have to admit, it has one of the best ending I've ever seen. Ending gave me a goosebumps.

I was expecting to find La Dolce Vita’s final shots with Mastroianni and the girl but they went with 8 1/2 instead. That’s fine though I would have preferred the plaintive finish of the earlier film but perhaps they thought it was too much like City Light’s ending, which is on the list (although quite different in intent.)
