Okay the kids storyline is typical CW Soap but I will keep watching

I heard HBO Max also put money into it.

Maybe they should get overheard lighting.

Hotty McHotshot is going to have an easy life and get things handed to him on a silver platter.

At least in real life anyway.

Never watched either of those shows. Thank god my kid doesn't either and is smart enough to point out how reckless it is, considering we've seen a lot of alcohol and drug addiction in our community, including within our own family. I'm not judging anyone who enjoys the occasional recreational drink or anything, but I do think it's pretty irresponsible and a weak level of writing when that appears to be the common thread among your characters in a series, especially without any consequences shown.

And I'm not too righteous to admit that I myself was an underage teen drinker when I was younger, along with many of my friends, but I don't remember there being any family television shows endorsing and encouraging us to do it. If anything, there always seemed to be the cautionary message against it.

I live in the UK and can't watch this yet. However, I'm hearing some good things about this show. Particularly in terms of the characterisation of Superman. I'm still not sold on the concept of him having two sons and being that it's a CW show, it may well drop in quality but...cautiously interested and optimistic
I can't speak for when it'll be available in the UK, but for your sake I hope soon. I really like Superman and based on your avatar I am guessing you do too. We're only four episodes in but I am really liking it. Tyler's portrayal of both Superman and Clark is excellent and consistent. The best live-action Superman we've had in a long while. The action sequences have been well done and as everyone notes this is visually a step up from other non-Stargirl CW series, coming across more like it's an HBO Max original or something. No guarantee it'll stay this good, but for now I highly recommend it.

Aside from the annual crossovers (which won't even occur this season we hear), most Arrowverse series really don't require knowledge or actual viewing of other shows. The more you watch the more various moments will be meaningful, but it's far from required.

And from here, I do hope S&L focuses on Superman lore and generally does its own thing outside an occasional crossover episode/event.

Superman & Lois Episode 5 Review: The Best of Smallville - Den of Geek 5/23/21

Superman & Lois episode 5 deepens the Morgan Edge mystery and reveals new depths to Captain Luthor, all while Jonathan and Jordan adjust to life in Smallville.

I dunno if I’ll keep watching this. I keep expecting this to move away from the kids, I mean, the title is Superman and Lois. Maybe I shouldn’t have expected this to be a remake of the New Adventures of Superman.

Regarding Captain Luther, the only arrowverse ties in the show are him originating from a different multiverse, but last night's episode had me wondering that things are going to end up being quite different for him. Not this crusade he though he was on.

I've noticed that pilot aside (which was already 73 minutes or something like that), all episodes have been flagged as extended on the CW app. I take that to mean that, like Stargirl's early episodes, what aired on TV was as slightly edited-down version of the episode. Love that we get the full episode, though I suppose it encourages people to NOT watch it on debut night.

I said it before but I sure hope we get a 4K of this (we won't).

Idk it was very much promoted as a series about the family. So far I think it's nicely balancing Clark being Clark, Clark as Superman, Lois' life, and the life of the sons. Certainly being a TV series it has the breathing room to expand on each character's life. A film wouldn't have that luxury.

And so far it actually does kind of seem like an modern-day rendition of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.....just years ahead in their journey together. And being a modern series on a modern budget, it is able to depict action sequences only a big-budget film in the 90s could've even attempted. That plus them filming this with Panavision on anamorphic lenses gives this a rich, widescreen cinematic look. Just not something we get with CW often.

All just my take on it though. No show will be for everyone.

I'm not sure why everybody's expecting the kids to not play a big part when they'll both probably develop powers and are part of the main cast. Plus it's CW, they're obviously not going to ignore the teenage characters.

They had a perfect chance to bring up some kind of Crisis remark when Clark said it feels like they were just born and Lois said it was easy for him to say since he didn't have to go through 27 hours of labor.

Okay, I gave it five episodes, but I've decided I won't be watching anymore when it returns after its hiatus. I liked how the series started, but as it went on, it became more apparent that this isn't for me. I already did Smallville, and frankly, that show did it better.

I no it's not going to happen but I sure wouldn't mind them sending the kids off to college after a few seasons and have Lois and Clark move back to Metropolis with the kids only coming back for a few random appearances.

May's not actually that far off, but it's because they had a break on production due to COVID stuff on set back in the summer... but yeah, they knew this happened, so I don't see why they rushed it out if they knew they'd have to go off to catch up, or at least wait until more if not most had been filmed.

I mean, that's not terribly unlikely either. They can only draw out the HS life so many seasons.....

.....right?

I know that’s a jab at Smallville, but considering all the mid 30 somethings I know in my hometown still trying to live it up as if they were still in college, dragging that out 10 years is actually pretty believable to me. lol

No actually! I love the Smallville series. I think it was the first five seasons that were set in Smallville prior to Clark going to Metropolis and all that. So that's basically half the show. Given that S&L would at best get to maybe eight seasons or so, three or four seasons seems fair for Jordan and Jon.

If The CW orders Naomi to series, putting the show in the Arrowverse makes a lot of sense. And Naomi has an obvious connection (in the comic book world) to Superman, so I sense a crossover being a good way to introduce the character and series.

If it's on CW, it's going to be in the Arrowverse. They're probably wishing Stargirl had came out before Crisis now, it's another Supergirl situation lol

Since S&L is supposed to be in the Arrowverse, I'm sure they'll have to have it year-based and not do something where each season takes place over half a year or so, since they have to be going at the same speed as the other shows which should have the same benchmarks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

Maybe I am late to the party, but I noticed recently that S&L is on HBO Max*. The first five episodes of course, as that's all that's aired, but still surprising to me given that I figured the whole season would go to HBO Max after the season wrapped on The CW (the way it was done with Arrowverse shows on Netflix or Batwoman and Stargirl on HBO Max). Assuming though that the episodes aren't going to HBO Max right after airing as they do for the CW app?

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that HBO Max is shouldering some of the budget for S&L, and if I am recalling that correctly that maybe that deal included HBO Max getting access to the episodes more quickly, as S2 of Batwoman is not on HBO Max as of this writing.

*HBO Max US. Obviously can't speak for any other markets.

The first five episodes are leaving the day before it comes back on TV, I think. Probably just a way to get people to watch it because the CW app is crap and has ads. Are the versions on HBO Max extended like the ones on the app/website though? Supposedly they're longer than what airs on CW but I never compared.
