According to several reviews the Sony XBR8 LCD flat panel with LED backlighting is the best LCD flat panel for the year 2008 in terms of picture quality, only a Pioneer Plasma offers a better overall picture quality compared to the XBR8.

Sony has recently lowered the list price on the KDL-55XBR8 from $7,000 to $5,499. The KDL-55XBR8 can be found at Best Buy on sale for $4,499.99 and the KDL-46XBR8 at Best Buy is on sale for $3,299.99.

Mail order prices are even cheaper.
