Cult Epics has informed us that it plans to release a box set with four films starring Dutch cult icon Sylvia Kristel. They are: Playing with Fire (1975), Pastorale 1943 (1978), Mysteries (1978), and Julia (1974). The box set is expected to arrive on the market later this year.

To all collectors, especially those on a limited budget: Cult Epics doesn't care about customers and won't accept responsibility for defective items.

I purchased Cult Epics' Death Bed Blu-Ray four years ago, played it once, and then, not long ago, when I wanted to revisit it, I discovered it won't play thanks to bubbles that have formed on the top layer of the laminate. I've attempted to contact Cult Epics several times — twice via email, once through their website form, and once via Facebook, as suggested by a fellow Blu-ray.com member. I’ve been polite each time, I’ve patiently waited weeks between attempts to contact them since I know smaller companies are struggling with pandemic issues and they’re often short-handed and backlogged. That was many months ago, and still nada.

I’m not asking for anyone to cry me a river. But I’m on a fixed income, and I expect a Blu-ray to have a longer shelf life than a lowly VHS, especially since other manufacturers, such as Criterion, have in the past replaced faulty discs regardless of when they were purchased. I’m a big supporter of boutique labels, I was looking forward to purchasing Cult Epics’ Death Laid an Egg, and I'm intrigued by the Sylvia Kristel Collection. But after this, there’s no way I’ll ever be doing business with Cult Epics again.

So, if you’re someone who doesn’t have tons of extra cash to buy replacement copies, and would prefer doing business with a company that cares about their customers and will stand by their product if an admittedly rare manufacturing defect does turn your disk into an expensive coaster, you might want reconsider giving your hard-earned cash to Cult Epics.

I've been checking patiently for this one. No shipping notice from Bullmoose and no retailers (like Diabolik or Grindhouse) have it as an in stock item. We'll probably have to wait a while longer on this one.

I got my Amazon shipment today. Only problem is they shipped DVD instead of the Blu I ordered. Frustrating release.

The email from CultEpics today says they are shipping, with exclusives (extra disc and booklet, plus a book) in limited combos from their website, but its not really my cup of tea

I received mine yesterday from Deep Discount. The bonus DVD disc from Cult Epics sounds nice, but I paid less than $50 for the normal Blu-ray set...so I can live without the extra Interview.

It was stamped as No. 1153 on the back of my box. It would have been nice if they would have used thicker card stock for it. It's pretty thin, and the bottom arrived slightly creased. The poster was of nice quality stock however. The booklet is thin, but at 40 pages that's not too surprising... it seems to contain a good amount of information within it.

All of them come with the 40-page booklet inside the box. The only thing exclusive at Cult Epics is the Bonus DVD disc, or the "hardcover book" from the IndieGoGo campaign.

The set is limited to 2,500 numbered copies. You get the Poster + Booklet with it no matter where you buy it from.

Ouch! Hope you can get this easily fixed by Amazon. I’ve had this happen once before with another article and customer service was absolutely clueless while negative reviews piled up on the article’s Amazon page. Ended up just returning the DVD and buying the article at DiabolikDVD instead.

That said, Amazon hasn’t even shipped my pre-order of the Sylvia Kristel set yet. Hoping to get the Blu-ray edition and nothing else!
