Compared to their retail chain competitors, I hardly ever see an awesome sale price on a blu-ray. Never for a 4K disc.

They had a 20% off Target Circle sale the last week in January.

It's a loyalty program where you have to spend more to benefit. Best Buy has similar reward programs but unlike Target, you don't need it to score good deals on blu-rays and 4Ks. |

Toy Story 4, Lion King Live Action, Aladdin Live Action were all $17 I believe all 4k all Target Exclusives [Dumbo Live Action too I think] I think Target Exclusive for Onward was also $17 I think even the exclusive for Frozen II was also that price A Wrinkle In Time exclusive was $12 not a great movie. bluray only but for an exclusive at that price I pulled the trigger Star Wars Rise Of Skywalker 4K was $25 although it seems high it was an exclusive and the regular Skywalker 4K was selling for $30 Some of these were recently on clearance but it was a YMMV. I saw Toy Story 4 for under $20 You get decent 4K deals with Target's B2G1 sale if you make the right combinations of prices |

It seems like we have different opinions on what is a good deal. I'm sorry, you're talking to someone who never spent $20 or $17 for a 4K. We're on a web site that tracks prices and should be utilized to get the best price. To me, regardless of what others are selling it for, $25 is still a rip off. Another thing you have to clean up in your post are actual facts. Saying I believe they were this price and that price or I believe they were 4K isn't solid. I never said I didn't like Target, I shop there too. And of course, I hit the movie section and I go enough over years and years to come to my conclusion. I wish I was wrong. If you want to buy cheap DVDs, then yes, they have a $5 bin but damn, so does everyone else. lol Blu-rays and 4Ks....forget about it. |

Targets B2G1 sales (amazon always copycats them too, but with a much poorer selection) have offered about the best deals of any of the retail giants for the past few years. For day to day prices, amazon still tends to have the best price, but when it comes to sales and new release pricing, amazon isn't even trying anymore; they just copy target, walmart, and bestbuy. BB will often be the first to put new release and 4K stuff on sale, but it's usually still a bit cheaper to get from target during their b2g1 promos. Of all the big box stores, target has been the most aggressive with media sales overall, for the past few years: online - they don't carry enough in stores to bother with anymore. But they sell out fast, take months to restock (if they restock at all) and if an order isn't large enough to warrant a box (at least 3 or 4 movies), there's a better than average chance it'll arrive damaged, due to thoughtless, inadequate packaging, and their unrelenting use of ups surepost. But, for redcard holders get genuinely free shipping, not paid in advance faux-free shipping via a paid membership, like prime.

I just walked into two Targets the last week or so.
They significantly reduced the amount of movies in their stores. Not saying other retail chains are not doing the same but it's sign of the times. |

Thing is, Target stopped being my goto place for movies. They've really lost it when they started scaling back their home entertainment department. The store near me has like one aisle, on one side and one four sided kiosk. They really don't have anything to entice you into buying and they seem to always have the same titles. Target used to routinely rotate their stock about once every quarter year.

I like Target in general but as I've stated before, they can't compete in the price war when it comes to movies. As you can tell by the thread, there are those who disagree with me but here we are during the hot movie shopping season and Target doesn't have one 4k title that is $10 except for Ex Machima which they can't give away lol It's been that price going on two years maybe longer. |
