Default Did I miss something with HD-DVD & Amazon?

I just noticed HD-DED just took off like a rocket recently. (According to the sales chart). Did I miss something?

Here's the link:

Blu-ray is still doubling the HD DVD in top 100.

Plus all of the top 100 Blu-ray discs are ranked higher than #1000

There are several HD DVD discs still down at #4000 and higher.

eproductwars shows 0 copies in stock for blu-ray and only 49 copies for HD DVD. That can't be right, can it?

Just to be clear - does the "buy 2, get 1 free" Amazon special apply to hd-dvd?

Yes, I think there is a buy one get one for both Blu-ray and HD DVD.

All that graph shows me is that HD-DVD is a gamble.. look at that thing.. it plummets than sky rockets and plummets again.
I assure you it will drop drastically soon.

HD-DVD is an unstable technology selling-wise, while Blu-ray is consistently in the top 100! It is a very stable line with good sales that are never wildly fluctuating.

With the recent releases of HD-DVD today that Blu-ray is lacking, it is expected that it will increase right now, but when the Blu-ray releases start pouring out in the next few months, you can rest assured that Blu-ray will remain on top!

I am also expecting to see that graph posted all over the HD-DVD FUD fanboy sites...

Yes, both Blu-ray and HD-DVD have the Buy 2 Get 1 Free. I think HD-DVD has some where around 56 titles, but Blu-ray has around 105 titles

It already is... along with the charts showing the spike in HD-DUD player sales.

Let the babies have their bottle. They'll need something positive to look back on.

Ah - that would explain the concentrated spike in the catalogue titles, while blu-ray is more evenly spread.

Happen to know if you can mix them up, or do all 3 have to be one or the other? I can't find 3 BRs in their list that I want.

I think the sales numbers are too easily manipulated when we're dealing with small numbers like this. What would prevent someone like Amir from buying 100 copies of Heroes and simply expensing it on his corporate card?

. . . or canceling it before it ships. But seriously, this is most likely buys of the new releases and the free ones.

You can not mix Blu-rays with HD-DVDs.

I think the player spike is due to a major fire sale at Amazon. This also account for a good bit of the software numbers because of the extra freebies.

I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but I was thinking the same thing. But that is ok...let them have their day...they sure paid for it!!!

Amazon also has the PS3 deal for 8 movies and a PS3 for $450, doing the math of the 8 movies on BD, that would be $210 for a PS3! I'd rather pay $210 for a PS3, then a worthless boat anchor HD-DVD player for $10 or even $1.
