Oh cool!

I wonder though, will it be released by Paramount themselves or by a boutique label like Shout! or Kino?

Would love a directors cut if there is one.

Most likely Paramount but I could be wrong. Looking at how much catalog titles Paramount has been pumping out lately good chance it's Paramount distributing it.

Day 1 purchase! glad I can finally upgrade my DVD. Going to sit nicely on my shelf with Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

100% in on this! I wonder if Bakshi is involved at all since his account announced it. The info on Fritz was only shared after Scorpion announced it.

I mean this will probably be a bare bones disc with the current HD master, but one can dream!

It’d be nice to see shout release these in hopes of some extras but I’d be happy with just the HD version of the film. I still remember this one in the theatre what an experience!

I would love to hear Bakshi's thoughts on the changes that were forced upon him by Kim Basinger and Frank Mancuso, jr.. They really did him dirty.

Count me in. Been years since my last viewing but I recall it being fairly entertaining. Here's hoping that the animation really, umm......pops out on the transfer.

Yeah.

The animation itself.

So much of it was compromised during pre-production that Bakshi really had no wiggle room. He's basically described it as a paycheck job that he's washed his hands of.

For all of its faults (and there are a lot), a few of the animated scenes with none of the principal cast are pretty great, and Gabriel Byrne is very good.

Bring on Bebe's Kids, please.

I watched it again recently. A lot of it looks great and the soundtrack still kicks. The script doesn't work, though. And why does Holli
[Show spoiler]sound like a dingbat hick when she's human?

This was released when I was 19, and it was my favorite movie. Then I became socially active, and it wasn't as cool or edgy as it used to be. It was years later when I found out that it was supposed to be an R-rated horror film, but Basinger changed the tone/mood/script so she could take it to hopitals and watch it with sick children (!).

Some beautiful artwork here that gives you a hint of what it was supposed to be. In essence, it was a horror film

Given that Ralph Bakshi announced a Blu-ray is coming, it COULD indicate a Shout! release but given Paramount is now doing their fair share of producing new extras, it may not be far off the mark if THEY were doing it.

Is it a certainty that there isn't an R rated cut of this film? Oh well, the soundtrack still helps the movie alot. Love that Bowie song at the end.

Not going to get overly excited until we have a street date and artwork. I like the fact that as reported it's being worked on. Keeping my DVD for now.
