I wonder if that voice over is a woman villager who is trying to give advice to the player about the corrupt town. From that point of view, it's a little more tolerable. But I rather just hear scary music playing over the video TBH.

It's an open world shooter is how it's described. Like Far Cry is, but this being horror themed and lower budget.

It's almost like a voice that would be expected in a cartoon show, and then you have this very serious tone to the forest and woods. I wonder if it's like a comedy horror that they're going for.

If I saw that as a Kickstarter campaign I would have thought it was a scam.

The voiceover is the only thing that gives any context, and to be fair the premise sounds intriguing, but how much of that ends up a reality is really sketchy based on that pre-pre-alpha footage is beyond me.

I didn't get that impression at all from anyone here that they're really impressed with this game yet. The forest looks okay, but there's nothing to this trailer really other than a barren winter forest and some lady talking about a village. And a posted sign.

They said gameplay is arriving soon so that will give a better idea.

Even though the voice over narration sounds weird for a horror game, it sounds like they were going for an accent with how she pronounces certain words, so it sounds like some degree of talent was involved in its recording.

I've seen some very low budget games on PS4 like Black Tiger, so I believe this is entirely possible as a game for PS5.

The theories that it's from Kojima sound unlikely since he would've revealed his logo at the end of the trailer I'd guess.

Definitely contradictions in their messages, so something is up for sure here whether it's Hideo Kojima of MGS or not regarding their misdirection attempts now with the name not being the actual game's name, the trailer not being the actual trailer, the voice over not being the actual voice over in the game, and so on.

For them to deny any connection with Konami and Silent Hill and Kojima, that would be a lie if it wasn't true, so they'd have to be careful about that if it really is Kojima. If it was Kojima, then he's playing games with his audience if they figured out it's a new Silent Hill game, or a similar game.

I'm going to guess this is unrelated to Silent Hill. If it was Silent Hill, then the developer is a liar to its audience. Is that something Hideo has done in the past beyond just the unidentified PT and other fake trailers at first? That when he's discovered, he'll lie to keep the deception going? If it really is him, he should just be honest that someone figured it out.

That's why I doubt this is Silent Hill.

EDIT: Okay, as the site suggested that is investigating all these associations, in Google Translator, Hideo in Japanese translated into Turkish spells the first name of this Blue Box developer as the article said, which is true when translated. Then that article suggested that if it's not a real person he's pretending to be, then it's all made up any way so their denial of any relation to Silent Hill or Kojima or Konami would be made up too and part of the con.

So I'll say that name thing has made me change my mind towards this being Hideo Kojima with a new Silent Hill game at probably 90% chance being a new Silent Hill game from Hideo Kojima, which would be awesome. The BB game studio thing as well.

The thing is, the game is set to be revealed June 22, 2021 and released in late 2021. That could be a lie too since it's from the hoax developer.

But yeah, Konami could license out their game to Kojima this way he deals with all the budget instead of them. That would be wise of Konami.

The story

The story is centered around Jason Longfield, who wakes up in a strange forest. Abandoned and not remembering how he got there, Jason soon finds out that he was kidnapped and brought there for a dark purpose. Fighting for his survival, his main goal is escape.
Realistic character interaction

We want to deliver a uniquely personal gameplay experience, one that feels realistic. Every event has an influence on your character. If Jason is out of breath after sprinting (or is afraid), his firing accuracy will suffer. Unlike action shooter titles, firing weapons in Abandoned will be realistically slow. You will need to be tactical in order to survive.
The development

Our studio is focused on crafting a cinematic style, first-person story. This is no fast-paced shooter in which you just run, aim and shoot. Abandoned requires you to hide and plan every shot before pulling the trigger. We want you to be nervous come each and every enemy encounter. To be aware that a wrong move can be the deciding factor between surviving a combat scenario or not.

Immersion through the DualSense wireless controller and 3D audio

We wanted to emphasise realism through user immersion. This would not be possible without the DualSense wireless controller. Players will feel each and every interaction during gameplay – such as being struck by a bullet. Pulling the trigger on a loaded or unloaded gun will feel different. Equally 3D audio will help shape your decisions and tactics, using the accurate positioning of gunshots out in the wilds to help decide your next move.
The power of PS5

Our team is still unravelling the power of PS5 but we’ve made amazing progress so far. The console allows us to process high quality motion capture, all running at 60 FPS and rendered at a native 4K resolution. We#re making sure the environmental quality is as close to the real thing as possible. In all, the result is realistic graphics, smooth character animations and minimal loading screens.

Looking at the earlier links, there were suspicions by some that it was Kojima even way back in April when the trailer was first released for Abandoned.

If they have a 3rd person and first person view in a new Silent Hill game set in an open world town, that would be awesome with the same horror vibe as the PT Trailer.

EDIT: You're right, he made up a fake developement studio for "Phantom Pain" called Moby Dick Studios, similar to Blue Box Studios @bbstudios.

Phantom Pain I think it's called, was a standalone game, you're right, though Kojima said it would not be part of the main game MGSV to be released later, but would be include a small island to learn the basics on. It was like $39.99 for PS4 on release I believe, so I avoided it and just waited for the full game, which turned out great IMO. I don't remember any fake teasers for that game. But a prior MGS had one. I'd have to go back and research which one it was.

Kojima's Death Stranding looks and plays well, but feels like a chore when confronting the rain almost every round going out there with supplies that degrade over time in the rain. Challenging game, but not for everyone for sure. No special fake teasers for that one, as he was just starting his new company back then.

P.T. I remember was released as a demo and then later Kojima finally claimed responsibility for it, releasing the 2nd trailer of gameplay, saying it's not the actual game, just a teaser, until finally it was dumped by Konami.



But yes, BB Studios saying Abandoned is not the actual title, but it starts with S and ends with L, and then saying it's not Silent Hill, and then the developer's last name matching perfectly with Hideo when Hideo is translated from Japanese to Turkish, along with being PS5 exclusive, are some really strong clues that it's Kojima behind this prank.

If his name didn't match when I checked it in a translator, I would still be in doubt, but I'm 90% convinced this is about Silent Hill (s).

June 22, 2021 more is apparently going to be revealed by BB Studios about this game. Next Tuesday.

The final big clue is the still frame of a forest. That's the same concept of the still frame of a forest for PT's PS4 menu game display, which I still have the demo installed on my PS4 for.

Geoff Keighley, who is said to be friends with Kojima, was asked about Abandoned and he said he spoke with this guy Hasan of Blue Box Studios and is excited for the reveal soon. It's unusual he would he be excited for a studio without a proven track record or one that hasn't even shown the actual game yet to the public.

He interviews Kojima quite often it seems.

The Abandoned:Trailers app got delayed for three days. Due to localization issues we had to delay it. Apologies for this. Launching friday the 25th!

I have to say that while Hideo Kojima was having a good laugh at the expense of his fans with his past pranks (and likely this one if it's true) if this is truly him again pulling his pranks, it's also showing a slight bit of disrespect to play games with an unknowing audience like this, even though it's like a big joke. I can totally understand pranking your good friends or family, but total strangers, I don't know. One good thing out of it is to not trust too many people when they say something without a proven track record, so in that sense, it's a good lesson for those who aren't as skeptical of scammers.

But imagine Sony pulled pranks like this randomly before releasing their next God of War game or something.

I just feel that if people figured out his prank, he should admit it right away, unlike with Moby Dick Studios Phantom Pain where he denied any relation to MGS and lied about it under the guise of a fake studio. It's definitely interesting, but not all that honest either.

I don't know, if you were a famous game developer, would you make fake studios and then when they found out it was you, lie to them and say it wasn't? That seems wrong. If they figured it out, admit your prank was discovered and stop playing games with them. But whatever.

Hopefully it really is Silent Hill as PS5 could use a big exclusive like that after Bethesda went with MS.
