I have the series as well. It's my all-time favorite. Harvey was drawn black because, at the time, the character was black in Tim Burton's film. The actor who did the voice is white.

He dissapeared after License to Kill, then reappered in Casino Royale, and subsequently in Quantum of Solace, played by Jeffrey Wright in both. He was a reference to the older franchise, as was the "organization" of which Dominic Greene was a part of, similar to good ol' Spectre.

Sure, we can agree to disagree but I'd really like to hear Bruce Timm or Paul Dini saying that the character was supposed to be white and their reasonings for the appearance of his black skin tone. I have the DVD box set so if you can just tell me which disc and the approx time I'll be sure to check it out.

I heard that one of the stipulations of the films being made based on the character is that he would always be played by a British man. Is this wrong? Would they ever truly let an American play Bond?

But yeah, I'm against the idea of making him Black for the sake of him being the "first Black Bond". Some people were voting for Obama for similar reasons. It's disgusting. Giving preferential treatment to Blacks isn't racial equality, it's racially biased. If the next dude who they choose to be Black, that's fine, but they don't need to set out thinking "let's make Bond Black this time". That's weak.

The direct-sequelness of it is questionable in my opinion. This is the racial double standard. Characters normally defined as White are able to swap to Black, but NAACP would flip their lids if a normally Black character switched to white.

I have no problem with a Black (or any race, for that matter) Bond, as long as they are British or have lived most of their lives in a British country. Bond is Britain's most internationally successful film character, and to take that character away from them and give it to, of all people...an American...would be shameful.

Americans need to understand that other countries can't be as flexible with their films because they don't have the studios to pump out movie after movie. An "American Bond" would fail with purists (of which there are many) and the British Film industry would be greatly affected if the film bombed internationally.
