Kino is killing it. I’m grateful they’re doing well enough with these 4K releases that it’s giving them confidence to do more. There’s prime real estate left open still, especially with Criterion continuing to sit out of this format. Lot of area for labels like Kino to capitalize and release some prime titles.

Oh, and day ****ing one for Eastern Promises on 4K.

I'm going alphabetically through my DVDs, upgrading a couple a month to Blu-ray and occasionally UHD when available.

I'm glad I haven't gotten to the E's yet.

Kino has confirmed on Twitter that David Cronenberg turned down the interview/commentary request.

I own the blu, but I haven't seen this since it hit DVD in 2008 or whenever.

I remember not liking it that much.... Thought that History of Violence was better...

I may not enjoy it for exactly the same reasons you do but I must say when I saw this movie for the first time, that fight scene in the bathhouse was absolutely amazing. Could a hero be in a more vulnerable situation when an attack occurs? The audacity to conceive a sequence like that, let alone direct it with so much precision. One of the truly great fight scenes in all of cinema. Never thought we'd get this in 4K, can't wait!!!

He lives in Toronto. He's one of the furthest from Hollywood types. He did hate on comic book films like Nolan's Batman after directing A History of Violence which he wasn't aware was based on a graphic novel.

He's 78, we don't know what responsibilities he has in his personal life, what his health is like.

In general, I think you are going to find most near 80 year old guy's want to spend as much time with their family, rather than spending hour's working on a commentary.
